I think she was implying there are idiots on only one side =) Or at least she only gave examples of such.

I'm all for another hospital, just more geographically diverse... but if BRMC went through, I would have tried it out... oh well. Where are they going to try for now i wonder.

Let's also not assume just because some are not frequent posters that they are not frequent visitors/readers. Some pick and choose when to post very carefully because there are a few that dominate the threads and come down on dissenters quickly and harshly...not just on this thread. I think the point to take away is let's be respectful of differing opinions and value everyone's input and not call ANYONE narrow minded. It's not any better that the "narrow minded" comment was directed at one or many.

Thanks for the video heads-up Mr Linux...didn't know about it.

York was saying something like how the current ILH hospital is inconvenient for everyone except those who live near it... huh? The proposed BRMC is not far away from ILH!

Oh well... still have 2 hospitals within 15mins drive, it could be worse!

Oh, and Pats fan, I am not a lemming. I am an intelligent, capable person who has in fact read all of the posts in this thread (and many others) over the long haul and am utterly able of coming to my own conclusions. Ozgood's post just "spoke to me" and I was compelled to respond. Name calling, whether direct or implied, detracts from the substance of the arguments on either side. We are all neighbors who need to respect each other and agree to disagree sometimes, but there is no place for the name calling.

But you piled onto Ozgood's misreading of what T8ergirl said, which means you agreed with Oz either without reading T8ergirl's post or without caring whether what Oz said was accurate. Which was it?

And I stand by my statement about Lemmings--I loved that game when it first came out! :)

They're spending a lot of time talking about FTC involvement in the manner, but I'm a little bit confused. Anyone have any insight as to what they're talking about?

Interesting tidbit; DelGaudio seems to be trying as hard as possible to pass a motion stopping the Board/County from getting the FTC involved. At least that's what I seem to be understanding.

My guess is one or a few members of the BoS contacted the FTC or the FTC contacted the BoS about Inova's monoply, based on the denial of HCA's application.

Since the FTC already has Inova on their radar Prince William County merger, my hunch is they (FTC) will investigate and provide an opinion based on the fair consumer practices.

While I agree that if it is turned down, the citizens of NoVa (not just Loudoun) will have lost a chance to break the Inova monopoly, I do not put full blame on the BoS for turning this down. I blame HCA for a poor choice in location (the exact location, not general). I do blame the county and HCA for not working with HCA after the first denial to find a solution that would pass (the lawsuit was big business at its worse). I do put blame on BoS for not pro-actively courting and working with HCA or any big business early in the process, before HCA or anyother company buys land that locks them into a position. Fairfax works with companies from day one to help ensure that this type of mess is not created. All the planning and execution of zoning by the county government is reactionary, whether its schools or roads or hospitals.

If there is truly a market for a second hospital, then it will come.

So you would have local politicians get involved as to where a potential business would locate?

That will sure attract a lot of companies to Loudoun! (Excuse me a moment while I change my shirt, it is soaked with sarcasm). :D

As for if there is a need for "a market for a second hospital", don't forget that the state issued a Certificate of Public NEED (COPN).

HCA should sell the property to Trader Joe's
I have to drive all the way out to Reston now.
We have NO Trader Joe's in Loudoun.

Not politicians -- they just get in the way of course. Its called the Fairfax Economic Development Authority and the Loudoun County Department of Economic Development. I would say the Loudoun County Department of Economic Development did not do a very good job here.

quite honestly, if they build one in the B-lands, I will actually truly and really get a "real job" and work there. I would love to wear a Hawaiian shirt and wear a red name tag!
    oh and ring that bell!
