Anyone eat at that new italian place located in Villages of Leesburg (by the Leesburg Wegmans) called Travinia's?

I was in the weekend before Thanksgiving. Party of 4 adults for dinner. The women liked it and the men weren't impressed. The place was packed; we had a 40 minute wait at the bar for a table. They may be going through the new restaurant shakedown. My issues were an inexperienced waitress and the quality of my meal. In fairness, the other 3 in my party had no issues with the meal. I will give them a second chance in a couple of months.

I drove through that shopping center once. Went through the Wegmans parking lot because I didn't know I could go around. Took forever to get through there, even with no stores open yet. Haven't been back...

Just recently ate there and we all thought it was great. We all had a chicken dish so didn't experience any of the issues w/ seafood that other posters mentioned. I would definately give it a try.

We went tonight right before a massive crush - our wait was 20 minutes, by the time we left it was over an hour. Wait staff very nice. Our app and pasta dishes were fantastic. I am a pretty picky Italian food eater (from an Italian family), and have not found good Italian in a while and love their pasta dishes. No one at our table had seafood though.

This does not address the food, but we made a reservation to have breakfast with Santa there on Saturday. Our 7 year old was dressed to the nines and super-excited with a picture she had made for the big guy. When we arrived, they told us that they had no record of our reservation (and that we weren't the only ones that happened to). They considered us a walk-in and put us by the BAR (which was freezing). My daughter could gaze at other kids jumping up and down in the restaurant waiting for Santa, but could not join them - even though the restaurant wasn't even half-full. We approached management twice and they would NOT seat us in the restaurant. They knew they messed up and admitted it but would not do anything to fix it. They said that more people who were on the list might show up. I know mistakes happen but I was appalled that they did nothing to right this for our daughter, if nothing else. It's Christmastime, and we had no choice but to walk out. We will never go back.

Wife and I just ate there last night. Atmosphere and service were good, but the food was very bad, especially for the price.
I had the crab cake with orzo pasta. Not much actual crab in the crab cake, and it definitely didn't taste very fresh. The orzo seemed like they simply cooked it and dumped it on my plate. No seasoning at all, just a pile of plain orzo pasta.
My wife had the lobster ravioli which she said tasted like it was frozen, and the side risotto was "inedible." It did look like it had been sitting around and not made-to-order. Very disappointing...
They did have a rather large menu, so maybe we'll try again with different food as others have stated the pasta dishes were good. But for the price, there are other, much better, options around.
I highly recommend Ford's Fish Shack in Ashburn, and Cajun Experience in Leesburg.

went a few weeks ago and all was excellent= food and service. had wonderful scallops garlicky! and parmesan fries, YUM. and a pizza- tony's fave i think- fantastic crust and wonderful ingredients- the fennel in the sausage was bursting off of the table!

also has some delish wines... looking forward to taking friends here. we tried last saturday but by 7pm there was a 90 minute wait! they have weeknight specials... may have to go then to avoid the weekend crowds.

I actually made it back to that shopping center and have been to Travinias twice. Loved it the first time. Food was good, service was excellent. Not so much the second time. Few was not great, service even worse. The waiter kept stopping by our table with our empty drink glasses on us to advise that he would bring refills after the next course arrived-thought that was weird but, aside from that, the service still sucked. So, not sure what to think. It's pricey for inconsistent food and service.

Went there a couple of weeks ago and overall impression was bad. As other people have mentioned the service was awful, we needed to continue to ask the waitress for a refill and it finally came half way through dinner. The food overall was unimpressive. The chicken was rubbery and the flounder was bland. Overall its overpriced and unimpressive and will not be going back. There are better Italian eateries.

Which Italian restaurant do you prefer? We're looking for a good, non-chain one.

Palio's in Leesburg- we've had two excellent meals there in the past few months.

I am hearing love or hate on Travinia- no real middle ground. so far, we LOVE. :loveheart:

Cantina D'Italia on Elden Street in Herndon. They have another location in Fair Lakes Shopping Center, but we prefer the Herndon location. It's family owned.

We agree with you completely! The Olive Garden does a better job at mediocre Italian food. Our servers were friendly, but had no clue about what they were doing. Awful. Save your money and stay away from this place.

I work in Reston and eat there for lunch on occasion. I agree with your recommendation.

Went last night with some friends. I have to give the atmosphere an A+, but the food was just OK, nothing to write home about.
