Great comment. I was coming here to ask the same thing.

What a great use of taxpayer funds. But, I guess using someone's hard earned dollars for a first class ticket is ethical.

...and specifically what new businesses have opened as a result of these trips so we can be sure to patronize them.

After reviewing the last slide regarding police enforcement, I had to laugh because I know very well that LCSO is a huge joke in this town- I’ve never seen them ever pull speeders over in my 15 yrs here! They are SO reactive and don’t even want to lift a finger in our area to enforce the traffic speed limits here let alone catalytic converter thefts.

Recently, we just had allegedly a hit and run here even though the person came back later-

I’ve given up on our police force here- I have NO idea what we are paying them for other than to show up AFTER the fact - not ever being proactive and there are WAYYYYY too many deputies being stationed at the courthouse instead.

I seriously doubt we ever will have enforcement in our neighborhood- it’s a free-for-all here. Even my neighbor laments that kids and adults alike speed down the hill on Ridgeway knowing very well they’ll never get busted!

So the last slide—- what a pathetic joke it is.

So, an interesting statistic the sheriff’s office pointed out: from Jan 1 to July 31, 2023, they have had over 360 traffic stops in Broadlands.

Not a great statistic if that is your point. It averages out to 1.5/day.

    It’s higher than I expected.
Given the size of the county and the number of sheriff’s deputies on duty at any given time.

Do you mean the 'size' of the community? Other wise it doesn't make logical sense.

No, I meant size of the county. It’s a large county and there are other large communities in the east as large or larger than Broadlands.
That’s a lot of territory to cover and 1.5 stops per day in just Broadlands seemed like a lot.
