Perhaps they're preparing for a plethora of traffic in and out of Dunkin Donuts. :)

Cliff, that's a proffer by the developer who's putting the 47 homes back in there just past the ballfield.

Well, not exactly. That development is contributing $7500 for the installation of a light there. Obviously, the county must have some plans for a light there that they are getting financial contributions for. 47 homes would not justify a light there.

Cliff, that 7500 is a proffer that will be added to whatever else the other developers of properties on Waxpool will or have contributed.

I suspect there'll be more than 47 houses built on the rest of the land there on Waxpool.

And Cliff didn't trump me, just added more detail.

    Neil,

I saw a little while ago you used Marc Holidays name as a person you get information from. Is he reliable now? I asked him about the street lights in front of Overland Park back in NOVEMBER 2004 and he said they would be on by March 2005. We are still dark here going into 2006.

    Thanks
    David

FWIW ... you're not the only ones in the dark. The other side of Broadlands Blvd, by the new School Bldg is also dark. We're waiting on the electrical feeds. As you could probably see, they were digging for the feeds along Broadlands Blvd in Overland Park, not sure where they are at that point.

I'll check with Wes when I get back from holiday vacation, and also bring this up at the next HOA Board meeting in January, and get you an answer.

And we'll get the same answer we've been getting for months......."They'll be on in two weeks......"

let's go w/ the past ones:
    • by the start of the school year...
    • by Dec 17th...
    • they'll be on in two weeks...
my vote is split between the first and third

now that they are installed, any guesses on when they might be turned on? the light at ryan road and belmont ridge was turned on within days of when it was installed. the same is true with the light at evergreen mills and belmont ridge. why is it taking so much longer here in broadlands?

At tonight's HOA Board Meeting, I asked Mark about the latest timeline.

    1. They're currently installing the pedestrian (Walk/Don't Walk) indicators, along with the push buttons to trigger the lights for pedestrians.

    2. He confirmed that all the basic infrastructure is in place. VDOT has been requested to come and do an inspection of the installation. From what he understood, they came out today to look over both the Waxpool and the Broadlands Blvd installations. He's not sure if they passed or not.

    3. The next step is for Virginia Dominion Power to come out and connect up the power to the systems.

    4. The lights will then be turned on to flash 4-way red for about a week.

    5. Then the lights go operational. He also said they may then be synchronized, but I'm not sure why that is needed at this point.

Waxpool may be a week ahead of Broadlands Blvd as far as installation is concerned, but again, he's not fully sure. He's also saying that at this point, the contractor has indicated that the lights should have power by the end of the month. However, I'd bet for the week of Valentine's Day.

Hopefully an accident won't happen before these lights on turned on - especially at Broadlands Blvd. More and more people are not taking their turn at these four way stops, nor do they know who actually gets the right of way. In the past week, I've been in a couple of near misses. It seems to be getting worse. I watched last night as a walker was crossing and an impatient person in a car nearly ran him down. :(

if we all agree to boycott all the stores at the safeway strip mall, that should reduce the traffic at the intersection and put some pressure on whoever is responsible to install the traffic lights

    I think that's too optimistic

That step sounds simple but they have been trying to get power to the street lamps at the entrances to Overland Park for almost two years now.
