We used the summerbrooke pool on Demott yesterday and there was a lot of loose grit on the bottom of the pool and some cement from repairs they did this winter... maybe the kids could sweep that stuff up =)

Other than that, the water was warmer than I expected and a good time was had by all!

The 1st person they should be contacting it the pool manager.
The manager will if verify they are checked in and or signed in as a guest. If they are neither they will be escorted from the property by either pool management or if need be the sheriff's office. If they were a resident their pool privileges will be suspended immediately. If they are a guest they will no longer be allowed to come to the pool and if the HOA needs to we will obtain a trespassing ordinance against them. Additionally if they are a guest the resident who brought them will also have thier privileges suspended.
There is a new guest sign in system this year so guests and the resident who brought them will be able to easily be identified.
If the manager is not responding to a residents concerns then I need to know.

Yeah some of the pieces are too big to go into the vacuum so I need to put someone in the water to get them out. But I have already let the guards know it needs to be done today.

Is there some sort of sliding scale for fence jumpers? Last year I saw a lot of kids in the pool area climb the fence out then climb back in. While this may not be an issue with "trespassing" as they already were checked in, it is an issue with safety.

I don't think for a minute that if some kid falls off the fence that his parents wont be suing the HOA.

We love pool season and think they are great! We went to the pool on Sunday and it wasn't too crowded (the one on Demott). My only issue was that I asked the lifeguard at the desk to tell me the pool schedule and she couldn't speak English. How could she communicate with 911/EMT's if there was an emergency when she couldn't answer "do you know the pool schedule?" She went to get another lifeguard who also couldn't tell me the pool schedule. Does anyone know where all pool schedules are posted? Would it be possible to have these posted outside each pool for the season since I know they vary by pool and time of year? Also, can a grandparent (non-resident) accompany a child w/o the parent (resident)? Thanks for any info you can pass on. Hope we get to enjoy the pool(s) lots this summer.

Perhaps you would like to volunteer and help out to make the HOA run better. Have you been to a board meeting lately or volunteered to help in many of it's committees?

I thank everyone who is active in the community deserves great praise. I also believe this negative/absurd conclusions speak for themselves. However I kind dislike the way volunteering is brought up every time someone states an opinion (maybe out of guilt). I think people are entitled to opinions no matter how wrong headed.

I think that the pools are fabulously run and I thank everyone who volunteers their time to make it happen. Once again I must single out Staci for her cool-headed-ness in the face of such ridiculous assertions.

We went twice this weekend to the SW pool. Neither time was all that crowded (we went late afternoon), but boy was that water cold!! Anyway, here are my observations:

    1. Lifeguards need a bit more training - I noticed that the lifeguard nearest me was cautioning against running (blowing whistle), while a group of lifeguards were at the other end of the pool running and rough-housing - this was noticed by more than one mom, and the lifeguard on duty just laughed and shrugged (she wasn't going to police her own). Not that big a deal, but the lifeguards should be setting an example if they want the rules enforced.

    2. This picture card/scanner system seems like a bust. I asked about this last year and was told that the system we purchased needed a larger server to work - so I understood we bought the larger server. This year, the system is just as bad - scanners don't seem to work (or aren't being used) and the old system of just taking the cards and placing them in the 3X5 card box is back in use. Could we get an update on the card scanner system, why it doesn't seem to be working (or isn't being used), and what it will cost to fix it?

Thank you for the update. To address your 2 concerns:
    1) This is the 1st weekend and for some a chance to catch up with friends. While this is not at all behavior I want to see again it was a learning experience for all and hopefully will be the one and only weekend it occurs this summer. Additionally, I have let the guarding staff know that I expect them to enforce all the pool rules for everyone on the pool deck themselves included.
2)As for the computer system. It is all up an working and most of the weekend people were being scanned in and out (at least while I was there as I was doing a lot of the scanning to teach the gate guards). However when there was a large crowd entering or leaving I asked them to keep people moving which may mean anyone with a green card was let in and then scanned in later. If this becomes an excuse not to use the system, I will have to change that as well and people will just have to wait. I do know that the Community Center had an issue getting their system started on Monday as I ended up having to fix it.
I have instructed all gate guards that NO ONE gets on the pool deck with out a pass or as a signed in guest even if they are just going out there to pick up or drop something off. Additionally, they are also suppose to be scanning everyone out. (If there is a mass exodus when the pool gets closed then people can just pick up there passes with out being scanned out.) I will reinforce this with all the guards tomorrow but everything seemed to be running much smoother then last year.

On a side note everyone needs to make sure they pick up there passes every time they leave the pool. Persons routinely leaving their passes at the pool may be denied entrance as the HOA is not responsible for keeping your passes.

Please let me know if there is anything else that you observe. The best way to reach me is via email or phone as I do not always have a chance to check out the forums.

    Staci

And the check would be bigger without the money generated by the outside memberships.
I'll assume this comment is an immature ranting. If you want to discuss how the HOA is run, call me and discuss it instead of taking cheap, juvenile shots.
I won't hold my breath waiting.

There are not over 3000 homes. You are off by several hundred.
And somewhere around 800 homes have never even bothered to get pool passes.
Why do we sell them? Generates lots of additional revenue with no inconvenience to residents. ONE pool being closed 20 minutes, assuming this is true, is NOT, in my eyes, an inconvenience worth giving up over $46,000 in revenue.
That equate to $1.50/month each of us does not pay.
Actually, I'm disappointed we've only sold 115...going to have to see what can be done to generate more sales!

Outside of maybe Cliff, I don't think any of you realize how much time and effort Staci spends on making sure the pools are run as well as they are. She deserves much more credit than she gets.

she won the vote for the board, and she's received much praise and thanks in here. i think she's appreciated. no one understands the depth of the volunterism that ALL of the board members put in.

some of us serve on special event committees (www.broadlandslive.com-plug!!!) but the board- and certain other committees- are dedicated YEAR ROUND as volunteers and that is truly appreciated by many of us.

O.K., I put my chin out there and I got pounded. Deservedly so, good lesson on posting when emotional. My apologies if I offended anyone. But geez Cliff take a deep breathe will ya. I'm flying tonight, I hope you calm down before you get in the tower.

I remember in the years past the SW pool had a few capacity issues around the holidays -

I am just wondering (Staci/Cliff) if you could please explain the following:

    1) if our new-ish scanning system allows resident members to have priority addmission to our pools over outside membership?

    2) does our scanning system have the ability to notify the three pools of current capacity? (example: someone tries to enter the SW pool, which is full can the guard inform the resident that Summerbrook or the CC pool have openings?)

    Thanks
