my husband and i just returned from vacation. we went sailing in the British Virgin Islands. unfortunately my "graceful" husband decided to take a fall while on one of the smaller islands (jost van dyke - home of the infamous foxy's bar) and ended up with a broken tibia and torn ligament in his knee.

the folks on the island were wonderful to us, and we'd like to help them in return. it's an island of 190 people, with one nurse and one clinic (i don't believe they even have doctors!). they only had one pair of crutches left, which they had to search for to give to my husband. these crutches were so old that we couldn't adjust the height on them because the screws had rusted!

the only thing that the nurse asked is that i return her crutches to her. i plan on doing that - and sending her a bunch more so that she has them available for residents and visitors on the island. i'm actually hoping to send her more medical supplies too, but thought crutches would be a good start :) don't get me started on the condition of the "hospital" on tortola, which was our next stop. that's my next mission... it really makes you realize that we take supplies, sanitation, etc. for granted at our medical facilities here.

so, if you have a pair of crutches that you're willing to give up, please let me know and i will collect them from you to ship to this clinic. i am happy to come get them from you.

    thanks very much,
    christina

I just re-read this. Honestly all I saw last night was "Crutches needed" (multi-tasking - new phone, reading forums, waiting for son to come home for Tech, fiddling with gadets....).

We were in Jost a couple of years ago and I remember Foxy's - sadly we could only staty for lunch. I think - can't rememebr too clearly as there was another bar there that was the home of "The Pain Killer." I suppose snorkling after that was not he best of ideas.

We could only do lunch at Foxy's too when we were last at St. John.

You make it to "The Willy T"?

Painkiller is Dianna's absolute favorite "island" drink!
