I have a 16 ct box of Armstrong 24x24x5/8 white acoustic ceiling tiles left over from our last renovation. Yours for $20.

We have no need immediate need for these, but have been considering finishing the basement and wondered if they blocked noise better than drywall?

It's supposed to but I never had drywall on the ceiling where they were used so I really couldn't compare it for you. I can tell you that we had no complaints about upstairs noise in that room. Maybe Hometheaterguy or someone with more experience could chime in and let you know.
