Just thought I would let you know that when we were at the Manassas, VA Aldi Foods' store (there are 2 stores in Manassas area) shopping today, I asked the Store Manager if Aldi would be opening a store in Loudoun or Fairfax Counties any time soon. She told me that they had received an email that in late 2012 a new store would open in Chantilly, VA. No location or exact opening date was mentioned.:)

Since Trader Joe's and Aldi Foods are owned by the same German parent company, that will be a nice compliment to the area. When I know of more details, I will post.

    Enjoy!

Aldi Food in Chantilly, VA will have its Grand Opening of its new store (replaces 1/2 of the old Shoppers Food Warehouse--other 1/2 of store will be a baby store called Great Beginnings per the Aldi manager today at Liberia Ave. in Manassas) on 12/14/12, Friday starting at 9 a.m. The store's "soft pre-opening" will occur on 12/13/12, Thursday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can sample some of Aldi's items and perhaps receive "free" shopping bag with "goodies", etc. The manager from Aldi told me that Great Beginnings would probably open at end of December 2012 or in January 2013.

I went to the Aldi store on Liberia Ave. in Manassas, VA today for some German Christmas items and the managers told me that the Chantilly store will be larger than the other stores over 15,000 square feet. The Liberia Ave. in Manassas is a lot cleaner and better managed than the Portsmouth Rd. store. Glad to see the Aldi in Chantilly opening soon.

I will be able to make my "shopping circuit" to Trader Joe's in Centreville which is larger than Reston and better parking (per their managers) and also shop at Lotte's and Aldi's. Even though we live in Fauquier County, it will be convenient too. Even though Manassas is close too, I like having the Aldi around the same area as Lotte.

Chantilly Patch's story on Aldi below--enjoy!:)

For those of "y'all" who did not get to attend the Aldi "pre-opening" today, I can confirm that this is a great store and the layout is easy. The store will open tomorrow for business at 9 a.m. Also, this location will open until 9 p.m. unlike the Manassas, VA locations during the week (Monday-Saturday). See their web site for hour details, etc.:)

Also, the new Chantilly, VA ad is now online to view too. Milk and eggs for the store are advertised only at this location as follows--milk--whole, 2%, 1%, and skim--$1.99/per gallon and eggs $.99/per dozen. Since we farm and drink raw milk from our cows, the Aldi milk for those of you concerned about hormones, is rBGH free. Not certified organic milk but just as good.;)

Also, P&G Tide makes the generic version of Aldi's detergent. If you do some research online, you will find that some of Aldi "house brands" are produced by large food companies. I researched on my own and found Del Monte produced some of Aldi's canned vegetable goods.;)

For those of you who do not live in Fairfax County, we live outside Fairfax County, you can receive the coupon offers at tomorrow's Grand Opening. Also, the management aka "suits" were giving out FREE Aldi shopping bags. My kids (all 6 of them) and I were some of the first customers. The manager gave us 8 bags; however, I tried to offer them back but he said to keep them. A pleasant surprise indeed.:)

I guess some people did not read the Chantilly Patch online or read the local paper, some people tried to enter earlier than 11 a.m. and tried to use the shopping carts. Oops!:pofl::shakehead::screwy:

The store is about 16-18,000 feet or so I was told today. It is deeper in length than most stores. Don't forget as previously stated that you need to have a quarter for the cart, bring your own bags or use their boxes, or buy bags from Aldi. Very efficient operation.
