FYI from another msg board. I do not want to spread misinformation but i'd rather share it and be wrong than NOT share it and see a kid hurt. I don't have any info or details, i am simply sharing what i read.

this was from a Brambleton message board, just be vigilant tonight and KNOW WHERE YOUR KIDS ARE.

I received this form one of my neighbors this morning:

    Hi Neighbors,

Don't know if you heard, but apparently last weekend there was a fight by the movie theatres between students of Stone Hill Middle School (note: another post says this was Belmot, not Stone Hill) and Farmwell Station Middle School.

Last night at the 2nd grade musical at Legacy, a parent and I were chatting and she mentioned that her child (a SHMS student) said that there would be another fight tonight and how she was surprised that this was occurring in Brambleton.

I asked (High School Student daughter) if she had heard about this and she confirmed that she had heard a rumor that there would be another fight between the schools tonight.

I contacted SHMS this morning and their staff was unaware of another fight and hopefully will address with the students/parents today. They also confirmed that they will notify the Sheriff's office.

Just wanted to make you aware in the event that you had plans for the towne center tonight.

i haven't heard of anything happening yet and since i HAVE a middle schooler i am pretty concerned about it.

now every time i think of a joke about middle schoolers fighting i rememeber the kid in chicago would was leaving school and stepped in to the middle of a brawl between rival schools, got hit in the head with a piece of wood and is now dead. then i don't think senseless fighting between brawling is so funny anymore... i know this was high school but any idiot can pick up a 2x4 during a fight and cause some real and permanent damage.

RIP Darrion Albert and Ashburn parents- let's school our kids on the consequences of violence- we are no less susceptible than any other community.

The fight was called off because it was literally the worst kept secret in Northern Virginia. Every principal in the area as well as the Sheriff's department knew about the fight. Not to mention that the kids involved openly advertised the fight on their Facebook pages and even created a Facebook group about it (not Ashburn's smartest).

However, parents need to be forewarned that these fights will continue to go on once all the attention dies down. The two hot spots for these fights seems to be Brambleton Town center---because parents just drop their kids off at the theaters up there--and the Ashburn Ice House--again because we parents just drop our kids off there.

Parents keep your ears open and if you think something is going on call the Loudoun Sheriff's office non-emergency number or call your child's school. Every school in the county has an SRO (student resource officer) and it's their job to not only keep the kids at school safe but to keep the community safe as well.
