I know it is not intentional. I just have a hard enough time getting participation with out people thinking it was gone.

You may but most people call me or the HOA which i totally do not understand. Especially when they tell me they do not want to bother the police, since that is what they get paid for - not the HOA volunteers :)

THIS is probably smart... given the emotional charge one would get if catching some creep in the act, and trying to detain him- definitely smarter not to have foot patrols. i know of some other fed up residents who OF THEIR OWN volition do walk around to see if any hoodlums are hanging out- and I will bet THEIR neck of the woods will be left alone as word gets out that people are watching the streets there.

Gee- what if more people did that... bet the risk won't be worth the reward and instances of theft and vandalism will go down. kumbaya.

Can't believe that folks would NOT want to bother the police....That's what they are paid to do....Maybe they think that the police will NOT do anything or laugh at them, perhaps?

Perhaps you can just give them the number to call and hang up? That will put them on the spot and decide whether or not to call the cops if they deem it to be very serious. They are just directing (venting?) to the wrong folks?

No don't sit around and do nothing. But be out and be part of what is going on. Take the necessary steps to protect your own property as I have been posting in the HOA newsletter. Instead of having a handful of people out using walkie talkies back to a base the LCSO wants to hear from anyone. Pay attention when you are out walking your dog, or out for a run, or out playing with your kids. Any time you are looking out the window, or outside you are part of the NW if you just report what you see to the LCSO.

Ha ha...Redon1. Very funny. I'd go to the meetings...but to set up and recruit people? That would be difficult for me. (I'll send you a PM to explain why.)

Yep - exactly. I admit this is a blantantly Pro-Gun Owner Rights Blog but the citations are correct. Let's look at it another way: You stop at a four way. You start to cross the four way as another driver blows through the stop sign and T-Bones you. Are the police responsible?

Regarding the Neighborhood Watch: I have never been to a meeting. I am part of the NW. Why? I live here!!!! When I see something amiss I report it. When the young hoodlums bike by & threaten to rape my wife & girl child - I report them. See? Easy. Observe & report.

    And occasionally . . . .:sniper:Keeps'em honest.

Actually, I see them on Ridgeway all the time. Especially in the evening. They drive very slowly down the street in a not stealthy car. Although the car isn't stealthy, they're still there.

Yeah, that makes us safer.....one of the federal law enforcement officers here had his house broken into and gun stolen! It was later recovered from a lowlife thug in a county south of us.

After all the police reports have come out recently, I am quite surprised that they didn't include my report to the police about my residence attempted break-in. Guess they didn't find it that important enough to include in the report? Sigh...

When you filed your report, did you request a number? You can call into the LCSO and request a copy of your report, if one was ever opened/created.

Did you actually file a report about the incident?

Sure did file the report...an officer did come out to my house....I'll have to give them a call to inquire about it.

    Bummer...
