AVOID: Landscape Plants That Are Alien Invasive Species in Virginia

    The developers planted Bradford pears in front yards all over Broadlands, and I see that's on the list!

    I have been told by experts that a lot of non-natives have been planted during developments in the area. It is a bigger problem if these non-natives are also invasive.

    Hopefully, by educating and increasing awareness we will help that to change. People also, add these type of plants in their yards every spring. I didn't know better when I planted our Japanese Maple. Learning what is native and finding them takes a little effort. When we learned the reason, it make PERFECT sense.
