I was in Home Depot the other day and noticed they now sell awnings. This would allow me to cover my whole deck for shade! I was wondering if these are allowed by the HOA, and more specifically, if they are allowed on townhomes?

Depends on the type of awning they're selling. FYI .. we've allowed the retractable kind in the past. While the guidelines do say that 'roll away' awnings will not be approved, this is old guidance, and will be removed in a future update.

Here's the link for the info: http://www.hoa.broadlands.org/info/designguides/guidelines/Awnings.pdf

I was hoping to have a roll away one. Any idea when that change may be approved?

    Thank you Neil.

We have approved them in the recent past ... get the information on the awning: catalog cut sheets, color choices (preferred and second choice), size, location, copy of your plat, and application form, as required by the quidelines, and submit for approval.
