rharse and I are considering some bamboo flooring and would love to hear if anyone has any experience with it.

In particular, he's thinking of installing it in the office himself as it appears to install much like hardwood does. Once that phase of the project is done, we're contemplating the hallway, the dining room, the living room. Any comments about durability?

    Any other comments welcome! Thanks!

I have it in the living/dining room where I live (landlord installed it) and I love it. It looks good, easy to clean and we haven't had any issues with it.

We had some of the carbonized flooring in our previous condo and while it looked nice, we had some issues with it being too soft and were glad to sell it before we had more use out of it and opportunities to dent it.

I would look at the hardness scale to find out more about the properties of the wood you want to look at:
    http://www.brazilianhardwood.com/products/janka.php is one example.

    Good luck!

i like the look but I would also think it might be weak and allow for dents and potholes

I have been cautioned that there are different grades of bamboo. Some cheap stuff that's not as hard, and more expensive stuff that holds up better.
