    Fellow Foodies--

Okay with all the forum "talk" of seafood and the lackluster quality of The Dock at Lansdowne vs. Bonefish Grill--I just had to tell you the BEST, BEST PRICE POINTS, GREAT SERVICE, AND FRESHEST PLACE TO EAT SEAFOOD, FRESH FISH, AND THE BEST COMMUTE WITHIN AN HOUR'S DRIVE.

Even for redon1--"fine purveyor of foods, etc.":)--this is the "place" to dine. What is the restaurant's name? May's Restaurant which is located in Frederick, MD. May's Restaurant has been in business for over 30 years and brings in FRESH AND LOCAL seafood, blue crabs from Chesapeake Bay areas, shellfish, oysters, soft shell crabs, FRESH fish (tastes like fresh-caught--it fresh daily!). Any variety of fish, shellfish, seafood, lobsters, etc. are available. Also, May's offers kids' meals served on May's Restaurant frisbee which kids keep.

Desserts are great and homemade, salad bar fresh, great burgers, fried fish and seafood, great bar, sweet tea (for all you "tea-toters"), steaks, hot dogs, sandwiches, lunch specials, etc. This is a great "Mom and Pop" restaurant. You can order a platter of steamed fish/shellfish and seafood, sides, fresh corn, salads, homemade hushpuppies (yummo!), sausage, buckets of shellfish, and other features for under $40. Too many choices to list. Feast feeds 6 (but with our "hungry brood" of 8 we do order 1 feast and order 1/2 a feast).

The best time to eat at May's (especially on the weekends) is before 4 pm and they open at 11 or 11:30 am. They have indoor and outside seating. If you are wishing to dine at night after 5 pm on the weekdays, weeknights, or weekends--call ahead for RESERVATIONS. Highly recommended. We ate there recently without reservations and waited for 30 minutes. Well worth it!

The parking lot is small and expanded in the back behind the restaurant building. The building doesn't look like much--no, it is NOT a "dive"--but a great place to eat fresh seafood and fish without venturing to the Inner Harbor. May uses the same seafood and fish purveyors that the famous restaurants at the Inner Harbor orders from.

Since our farm is about 30 to 45 minutes from Frederick, near Temple Hall Farms area, May's is great for our family's love of fresh and local fish and seafood. May's does not have a web site; but the following shows reviews and links for the restaurant. While you venture to Frederick, MD, drive to Thurmont, MD (about 30 minutes from May's) to Catoctin Mountain Orchards for great berries, apples, peaches, pies, "PYO" fruits, etc. Enjoy!

    Web sites are below--

www.eatinfrederick.com (Eat in Frederick, MD's site/info. Click on Seafood Restaurants info and read reviews.)

    www.catoctinmountainorchard.com (Catoctin Mountain Orchard's site/info.)

Please give May's a try--well worth the trip. Also, some great wineries in the area. Also, for a great daytrip, you can travel to Hagerstown, MD for outlet shopping, Amish & Mennonite Market (see my previous threads for info), Mennonite Bulk Foods Store (Martin's Farm Market), and antiquing.
