When will the Broadlands Blvd "dirt road" be paved and hooked up to Ashburn Road? Also, why is the newly created connector road near Waxpool blocked off? It goes all the way through to Ashburn Rd already....

The Broadlands Blvd "dirt road" section should be paved and connect to Faulkner Parkway sometime next year.
Van Metre has committed to building this road section as a proffer submitted with their rezoning package for the apt. complex off Waxpool and the senior center off Broadlands Blvd.
The Board of Supervisors will be voting on this rezoning application
    next Tuesday.

For those of you in Overland Park, I also talked Van Metre into including a tennis court next to the senior center. Although it will be in the commercial property north of Broadlands Blvd, they agreed to let the HOA have access to it.

Is there anything we as citizens can do to speed up the timing of the Broadlands Blvd. completion?

I don't think that there's anything the county can do, if that's what you mean.

I believe that Van Metre was waiting on getting some permits and rights of way from individual property owners along the route of the road. As you know, the properties along the north side of that road are owned by individuals, not development companies.

I seem to remember the Van Metre HOA board members saying something to the effect that it will be around the end of 2005 or so.

I wouldn't expect to see much in this area before the end of 2005/2006. However, we'll check at the next HOA board meeting next Tuesday.

We're also planning to sponsor another homeowner informational meeting with all the developers (Van Metre as well as the commercial properties) sometime this quarter. Probably February or March ... stay tuned !!
