I don't know about you, but I don't even spend 5% of my annual income on groceries. Assuming that I pay an additional 10% on my groceries, that makes for 1/2 of one percent that I am overpaying. I'm not wasting any more valuable time that I could be chasing trout, a white ball, or playing with my children on this issue.

    Over and OUT!!!

This is fun! OK, I'll do a shopping list based in Chili fixin's. It gets something from almost each of the major food groups and can be a bean to bean comparison as I usually do not use store brands. Well, except for the ground beef.

Players- i;'m thinking we should have a thread dedicated to NOTHING but the shopping results- no commentary, no debate- save that for here... shall we do that? it can be where Erika also puts the spreadsheet.

Each post should include multiple stores in it- no fair just posting prices at one store!

    what say you?

    wow, this is great!

I actually compared my Shopper's groceries to Harris Teeter on Sunday and Teeter was more expensive. I don't have my receipt with me, but I remember the mayo I bought at Shoppers (Helllman's) was $1 cheaper than Teeter.

I'm a total coupon gal and I love Shopper's because I get double coupon pricing. I only buy pantry staples there mostly.

I like Wegmans for produce and "specialty" items like bread, pastries, and prepared stuff.

I'm in the DINK club, so we average $50 a week on groceries. Next time I go out I'll compare and post.

    Really? Must be lucky..

Groceries are my #2 expense behind my mortgage. I spend more on Groceries a month then car payments, insurance, etc.. everything. Currently at 7.5% of my expenses according to Quicken.

So.. saving 10% on groceries is nearly $1,000/year for someone making over 6 figures (which is an easy assumption here in Broadlands that people are making 100k or more combined).

Again.. if you don't find $1000 worth while to you.. please drop the money on my porch. I take checks :)

please keep commentary here but JUST price brigade data in the next thread... thanks!

Would you all mind if I moved these 2 threads to the "General' forum? These aren't exactly Community Issues per se... They're more informative threads right now.

We're in the news! wow- now the store managers are on notice that we are watching.. how great is that? I wonder what te effect will be... PLEASE continue to contribute folks- even if it's just one store- someone else can always add another store's pricing on the same item and we can build slowly but surely!

Thanks to all those who are actively participating- it
s nice that some of you are taking ACTION rather than just whining in here... :)

    Cheers!

I hope the Safeway store manager notices they're selling Edy's French Vanilla Ice Cream that expired four months ago. If he doesn't read it here, he'll hear about it next time I get there.

    Fellow Foodies--

Check out my thread--"Saving Money at Safeway and Other Grocers..." for other money-saving ideas, etc.

Also, Harris Teeter will HONOR COMPETITORS COUPONS AND ECOUPONS (i.e. Target, Kmart, and others.) You can also use your SHOPPERS CARDS WITH COUPONS, ETC.
