It looks like Broadlands Pub & Grill closed. Work is being done inside and a sign on the door said that coming soon is Broadlands Sports Bar & Grill.

They are closed until they renovate the inside (to comply with non-smoking standards). Last I heard from the owner was he wanted to be open in time for the Super Bowl.

I didn't know! But considering I don't ever go there, I don't care, either!

The new place is suppose to be less pub and more family/community oriented. The new owner is changing everything and really wants this to become a place where anyone feels they can come and enjoy themselves.

YEAH!!! NON-SMOKING!!! That place was like a 2nd-hand smoke death trap the two times I tried to go!

I'm thinking they'd have to tear down the building and rebuild it completely to get rid of the smoke smell, should they so desire.

They basically gutted the place and started all over. Plus a whole new ventilation system. I am very sensitive to smoke and I stood inside and talked to the new owner for at least 30 min and did not notice it at all.

The fact that the Pub was closed certainly explains why I was able to get a parking spot right in front of it when I went to Cafe Opera...
