Broadlands Sprint Triathlon

    Does anyone know if there is going to be another triathlon in the Broadlands in 2009? I’ve read the 2008 race went well and had fairly good participation. Any information would be great. Thanks!

    There will be two. June 7 and August 8. They are not open for registration yet, however.

    They are hoping to have 2 here in Broadlands but have not even talked to the HOA board yet to get approval. So those dates are only tentative.

    I don't think there is yet. But it's a snake swim in the SW pool - would that be 400m I think? - 12 mile bike from the pool, up Claiborne, left on Broadlands, left on Vestals, left on Waxpool, right on Claiborne to Croson, quick turn around, then another lap of the same. Then the run which I think is slightly less than 3 miles is from the pool on the trails up claiborne, left on waxpool and up around the Community Center area and then back.

    Yeah they were suppose to be at a board meeting in Nov to confirm and talk dates but were not able to show up. They are now planning on coming to the meeting on the 13th. I figure at least one will be approved but I do not know about 2?

    I did it last year but they use active.com which rips off people for bs "processing" fees, etc. Hopefully it'll be cheaper this year. Last year it was like $90 -- rediculous.... but fun nonetheless!

    It's my understanding they'll be at the meeting tomorrow, and if it weren't for my two little munchkins I'd be there too to show my support. Please please please approve both of them! They're so much fun!

    Good news all you triathletes both Tri's were approved by the HOA board
    Only note the Aug one will be the 9th not the 8th so they are both on Sunday

    On behalf of Team TPR, I would like to thank you and the board for supporting these two races. I hope to see a lot of the residents come out to the race.

    There are four ways to participate in the races:
    1. Register and race
    2. Register as a relay team and race
    3. Sign up as a volunteer
    4. Just come out and cheer

    Beleive it or not, the cheers mean A LOT to the racers and actually help us go faster!
