This year's Loudoun County Buy Fresh Buy Local guides are on the way and expected to arrive in mailboxes next week. You can use the guide to find local meat and produce or grocers and restaurants that support local agriculture. And if you've planted your own garden and have extra produce to donate, check out Plant-A-Row for the Hungry --which works toward reducing hunger in Loudoun.

You should be receiving a guide in the mail next week, but if you can't wait--check out the guide online at www.buylocalvirginia.org to find local food, wine, restaurants, events & more.

A new USDA report shows that over the past decade sales of direct-to-consumer foods grew by 73.6% in the Mid-Atlantic region, helping both the environment and local economy.

    Thanks to Our Sponsors

We've teamed up with local organizations to produce the new guide for 2009. And thanks to the Loudoun County Department of Economic Development, Inova Loudoun Hospital and the generous support of our Community & 24-Carrot Sponsors, we were able to mail a copy of the guide to every household in Loudoun. Check out the sponsor page to see all of the organizations that helped make this guide possible.

    Plant-A-Row For the Hungry

Do you have extra produce from your farm or garden that you'd like to donate? A new program in Loudoun called Plant-A-Row for the Hungry is looking for surplus food from local gardeners, farmers & agri-businesses to distribute through the Loudoun Interfaith Relief food pantry. Please email Plant-A-Row if you'd like to donate food or volunteer.

We hope that you enjoy the new Loudoun guide. Please give Gem Bingol a call at 703-431-6941 if you have questions.
