Call for Candidates - Board of Directors Election

The Association is now asking for volunteers to run for the Board of Directors. This year at the Annual Meeting, to be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2012, three (3) individuals will be elected to the Board of Directors, each for a three year term. To become a director, you must be a Unit Owner in good standing. The Board currently meets monthly on the second Tuesday of the month at 6:00 pm. In accordance with the By-Laws, Article III, Section 3.5(b), should an adequate slate of candidates be available the night of the Annual Meeting, nominations from the floor may not be accepted.

Members of the Board are volunteers who oversee the business of Broadlands both in the collection and spending of monies, the selection of contractors, and all day-to-day operations. Members are vital to the Association through their supervision that directly affects the budget and therefore, the fees that all owners pay.

For those of you who would be willing to serve, a completed Nominating Petition/Candidate Profile Sheet (Link below) must be received at the Broadlands Association, Inc. office by April 20, 2012. Nominating Petition/Candidate Profile Sheets may be mailed to Broadlands Association, Inc., 21907 Claiborne Parkway, Broadlands, VA 20148, dropped off at the Nature Center, faxed to 703 729-9733 or emailed to mburns@broadlandshoa.com. They will be included in the package of materials sent to all owners with the Annual Meeting announcement. This is necessary so everyone may become familiar with your qualifications prior to the elections and allows you to receive proxy votes that are sent in prior to the Annual Meeting.

Pertinent information you may want to include could be; the length of time you have owned a home in Broadlands, committee work in which you have participated, educational background, and any work-related or other skills that you feel might be helpful to the operation of Broadlands as a business and social enterprise. Although the deadline for Nominating Petition/Candidate Profile Sheets is April 22nd you may take advantage of having your profile sheet included in the May newsletter by submitting it by 5:00 pm on Wednesday, April 11, 2012.
