I noticed on my way out the door this morning that my Honda Civic was hit last night. There is significant damage to the driver's side door where it doesn't close properly now. The car was parked in front of our house at approx. 5:45 last night and was not used after that. We were out until about 9pm so we don't know exactly when it was hit. Regardless, our car was hit with another car and no note was left. We reported it to the sheriff's office this morning too.

I just wanted to put this out there to let people know that something happened. A cursory look at the other cars on the street indicated that this wasn't some prank where a bunch of cars got banged up. All mailboxes on the street were intact as well. If anyone has any info, send me a PM. Thanks.

    Sigh.

maybe you did this already but look closely at the damage for paint from the other car. This might help you narrow down the possibilities. My guess would be that a neighbor or friend of a neighbor backed into your car. I would go to some of your neighbors and let them know personally what happened.

You should not have any problems with your insurance company but take plenty of pictures as a record just in case.

    Good luck.

Dave, yes, we did that already. We were thinking that a friend of the neighbor's kid may have done something, but that's purely speculation. There was no paint damage on those cars. We will let our neighbors know, though, that something happened.

Could be a young person who did it and then panicked and drove away. I did that once but the damage was extremely minor - just a scratch on an older, already scratched up car. It haunted me for years... really.

P.S. - if you ever parked your car in front of the Target store in Denton, TX in 1988 and it got scratched, I apologize. Although you probably never noticed.

That's IF they even noticed in the first place! But still, I should have left a note because that's the responsible thing to do.

As an early riser I can tell you that the Newspaper delivery folks would be my prime suspects. The Times delivery person is reckless and the Post has new and very confused young man delivering now. May be worth your while to be outside tomorrow morning at 5:30am or mention it to the Po Po.

    I agree.

I remember back in 1990 when I just bought a condo right after college...some woman hit my car and failed to leave a note on my car...but her neighbor saw her do it and left a note on my car. I went to her house to let her know that her neighbor saw her hit my car and I asked politely if she did. She admitted that she did so I got the insurance company information from her but her husband wanted to pay it off with cash so as to not drive up his premium.

It happens to the best of everyone one time or another. No biggie unless its a gaping hole in the car

Is that why my paper started ending up in a different spot lately?

I guess so because our paper hasn't been ending up in the right spot lately. You might want to call the Post to inquire....They'll help sort things out hopefully.

Ahh...that explains everything!! I've been wondering why all of a sudden my newspaper has been in my driveway instead of the middle of my front lawn!! I truly hated the former delivery guy.........
