    We live in the SW VM Townhouses by the village drive. Recently there have been so many cars parked on either side of the road at the entrance to the Townhomes.

    Is there any problem with the parking there? If not,are there any specific HOA guidelines on resident parking along the common roads?

    It gets a bit frightening driving cars in and out there as these big SUV's are parked on either side of the road in the nights and weekends.

    Virginia parking rules are clear ... you cannot park:

    # within 15 feet of a fire hydrant;
    # within 20 feet of an intersection;
    # in such a way that you block or create a hazard for other vehicles in a designated traffic lane.

    This is directly from the Virginia Drivers Manual:
    http://www.dmv.state.va.us/webdoc/citizen/drivers/vadm/vadm2-6.asp#5

    If they are on regular streets, you are within your rights to inform the Sheriff's department of this violation.

    It is a zoo during the summer when the swim competitions take place. That intersection of Village and Claiborne becomes very dangerous.

    Yep! Over the weekend it was terrible! But, as much as I hate it, where else can they park? I guess they could park at the Nature Center and walk under Claiborne.

    I complained about this exact issue before on here and NeilZ gave me the same info which was very helpful. I did contact the Sheriff's office but so far have had no reply. When I pull up to Village from Windy Oaks Square, I often cannot see around the cars parked so close to (or right on) the intersection. I was thinking about creating flyers to put on their windsheilds letting them know they were breaking the law. But I think outting a sign or painting the curbs yellow where it is illegal to park would help a lot more.

    I saw a Loudoun Sheriff patrolling Village Drive yesterday evening (around 7:00). I'm not sure if he was ticketing vehicles parked illegally, or just checking on the status of construction on the Dunkin Donuts. :D

    FWIW ... if people are attending a swim meet, they can use the Nature Center parking lot for parking.
