You can register for the cruise the day of the Carnival 5/17/08. You do not need to be present to win.

btw- STEEL DRUM BAND TONIGHT- FRIDAY FRIDAY FRIDAY! goregous weather for caribbean food and a dark & stormy... mmmm!

This thing was SOOOOO much fun! There were stiltwalkers that were so incredibly cool. My daughter loves the braids she got! Callaloo food was awesome. So were the burgers Glory Days sold. There was an awesome calypso band and a fire dancer.
My only suggestion is next time maybe another activity for the kids since the lines were so so long. My eldest daughter stood in line for over an hour for the rock climbing wall and was then turned away when she got to the front of the line- the rock climbing wall needed more attendants- especially when it came to cutting off the line- it was a real shame to turn all those kids away that spent their whole time there waiting (and by then she couldn't do anything else!).
But overall- if we had skipped the rock wall- everything else was awesome!!!

i second this- we enjoyed every minute- the food was great-perfect way to try the dishes at a low price, although i've already tried them all... the band and stilt walkers, fire limbo and glass walker all gave a real island feeling to the event.

Wow, we missed out! We enjoyed the Chinese food and thanks Harris Teeter for the free ice cream! But we did not see the stilts, fire dancers, etc. We waited for a while for the rock wall and gave up after a while. They must not have been expecting the turnout they got! But it was disappointing to see such a cool climbing wall and not get to try it.

We did get a much bigger turnout than expected, but I agree that another inflatable would have made the event better. The problem is weather; if the weather hadn't cooperated, we would have spent more money on the event than we needed to. And if you have a rain date, then the vendors cost even more. I agree that they needed at least one more attendant on the rock wall; we aim to fix that next year. This was the first year for it, so we learned a lot.
