Anybody have any recommendations for carpet cleaning companies? If so - any comments on Cardinal ChemDry?

Don't have a recommendation, but going to have to give Cardinal ChemDry a big NO. If you've seen their coupons, it seems like a good deal, only the price you see is for the actual cleaning, not the cleaning fluid, which will cost you $30+ for each area, if I remember correctly. NOT a good deal.

If you've got a couple hours, you can't go wrong with the rentals from the supermarket. Excellent machines. I think it cost $20 for the machine, and the fluid was around $10 (depending of course on how much of your area is covered by carpets).

FWIW, we talked to Steve from PowerDry and really liked him. We plan on using him the next time we have the carpets cleaned. Here's someone else's comments on him:

We used PowerDry at 703-437-0555 (www.mypowerdry.com) and Steve not only did a really amazing job of cleaning our carpets, he also arranged to find us someone with Boyd Carpets to get the master bedroom carpet stretched.
