Diwali starts October 17th, maybe that's what the lights are for. Or was there a Frosty the Snowman or a plastic baby Jesus involved as well?

Isn't this a discussion that happens every year?? Not everyone shares the same religious beliefs as you.

I think it's a reasonable question considering the stores are already selling Christmas items. People probably see the lights and are incredulous, then later realize they're for something else. Knee-jerk reaction to the Christmas season starting earlier and earlier each year!

Still waiting for the Red Rider BB gun...

It depends on the kinds of lights and/or decorations that you’re seeing. There are a variety of different religious backgrounds in Broadlands, so this could be representative of that. Who knows? Or it could be Christmas lights, and someone is just a little excited about the upcoming holiday.
“let's not be judged, lest thee be judged thyself” <religious connotation noted>

I guess we can add this to the list of petty things people complain on the BL BB.

If it's there religion then fine put the lights in your house not outside and take away from the American's Holidays I don't feel like its Holloween or Thanksgiven with all these lights out HOA take a look at Dilworth and avonworth, you give letters for the most stupid things other home owners do why not give them letter's with the 7 day rule to get them down

Americans generally pride themselves on being open and accepting of all religions and cultural practices. Why would anyone want to take away someone’s right to celebrate however they chose, especially if it‘s not harming someone? I agree that HOA penalizes on things that are sometimes trivial, but it would be unfair to discriminate against someone’s possible cultural or religious practice just b/c someone feels that it “takes away from American holidays”.

1st - let's not butcher the American language shall we?
FWIW the correct word is THEIR not there... Thanksgiving not Thanksgiven.

2nd - I really find your American Holiday statement offensive and ignorant. This country was founded by emigrants of various cultures.

I find it ironic that the diwali (the festival of lights) is the Indian holiday which uses lights as diyas to "signify victory of good over the evil within an individual".

Before you AssUme, I am not of Indian or Napalese decent, more over I have the great privilege and the distinct honor of befriending several who are and my family enjoys this holiday with them.

Lastly did you ever stop to think that this is their America too and we should be more tolerant or maybe curious to learn about their culture as well?

There comes a time when we head a certain call, when the world must come together as one! There are people dying, and it's time to lend a hand to life-the greatest gift of all. We can't go on pretending day by day, that someone, somewhere, will soon make a change. We are all a part of God's great big family, and the truth, you know love is all we need.

Wow.... Isn't it ironic that there are Indians that are American citizens serving in the military to preserve your right to discriminate against their religion?
