Anyone know how big that cinder block wall is going to get next to safeway? What are they building there?

It sure is ugh-ly. An employee at Starbucks told me it was going to be an Outback Steak House. I don't think that is true...
What a mess... and how come we dont have an exit/entry from Claiborne Parkway into the center? It seems that would cut down on all of the scary traffic at the intersection -- you know, like how they have it in The Farm.

VDOT will not allow an entrance to be that close to the one ramp for the toll road

I feel sorry for those people in the townhomes directly across from this ugly site! YIKES! I guess I thought the 2nd phase would be next the 1st phase.

Here's the URL to the site design:
    http://www.saulcenters.com/prop/vaprop/nova/broadlands/broadlandsprop/Rendering-Phase II.html

As you can see by the rendering, the cinder block wall should be covered by a brickface with false windows along with store signs. The signs look tasteful from the drawing, but who knows. It is also supposed to get a plaza with a fountain !!

Surely you guys didn't think it was just a standalone cinderblock wall going up, did you?

We don't need no education. We don't need no thought control. All in all it's just another brick in the wall.

It's gonna be the wall where the new "Broadlands" letters are re-installed. Probably with graffiti.

How about a wall for all the drunks coming out of the liquor store to urinate on before they pass out at Matress Discounters? (kidding, I <heart> VABC) :)

I heard that "The Restaurant" is a french/american style cuisine. It is also supposed to have outdoor seating... or so I heard

There will be a large fountain plaza between the wings of the new area which will allow outdoor seating.

It also looks like the Safeway Gas station is included in this phase of construction. So we'll finally have a choice instead of 'ExxonMobil' or 'MobilExxon'.
