The other post about getting granite counters reminded me of this: what is a good product to clean the countertops so that 1) they get clean, 2) they don't look dull afterwards, and 3) doesn't smell awful. We currently use Home Specialties Ammonia Free Granite and Marble Specialty cleaner. I'm not married to it and I don't even know where we got it. But, it smells horribly (even though it has a 'light citrus scent') and it leaves the counters so dull.

    Any suggestions?

I also use Method. When I want to get down and dirty I just use soap and water, whcih is reccomended. Don't forget you need to re-seal your counter tops every 6-12 months.

We are really happy with StoneTechPro, its pricey but worth every penny.

Daily we use the revitalzer and once a week the polish. Here is their website.

Really? Is this really necessary or is it CYA or profit propoganda? If it is really necessary, what is involved?

    Thanks

Ditto the rec for Windex. IMO, the Method smells terrible. To each their own!

I've read that if you have dark granite you can seal it every two years, but lighter needs to be sealed more often since its more susceptible to stains.

I'm interested to know what you use to seal it? I seem to remember reading that you need to keep the counter free for a long time to seal them. Is this true?

I've never sealed mine... and I need to. There are products you can buy at Home Depot - spray and cream like stuff. I think you're right... you need to leave the counters alone for 24 hours or something like that afterwards.
