Last night the wire support system in my closet came tumbling down, so now I have to replace it. I want something sturdy but since I rent I don't want to spend a fortune.

    Any advice?

I have to chuckle because I've had this happen in an old apartment - too many heavy boxes on the shelf. I'd say you're probably fine with using the same type of wire shelf as a replacement but throw in a few extra support pieces and make sure they are anchored to studs. Often these shelves are installed hastily by builders and they actually can hold a lot of weight if you install them properly. Just hit the studs and use enough support pieces.

I replaced mine with the Rubbermaid type linked in the post above this one. You can pick up the closet parts at Home Depot or Lowe's. As someone else said, you might be able to get by with using new support pieces and hardware.

Ha, mine crashed years ago too! Builder's grade also, problem was, I couldn't get in the door to fix it, what a nightmare. Boomer is right, these Elfa knock -offs work great as long as you're bolting into studs, using those things that open up after they go in, not sure what they are called. Very few holes and Very sturdy! Good luck.
