I was being my nosey self and drove over to the new Clydes and got a tour.

Have not been by there in quite awhile.

Well that is the best example of WHAT TO DO. Absolutely beautiful.

I was totally blown away and that is hard to do that to me, IMPRESSING ME with design and landscaping.

First it's design fits well with the residential across the street not in your face.

The place has a feel it is totally secure in who it is and does not have to shout in our faces. This place will not need any therapy ha ha ha ha

This place will be an instant hit for the entire area and will be a draw for people that live far far away just like wegmans.

One of the best examples of what to do not just here but anywhere in the country. The last time I ate at Clydes in reston years ago I was not that impressed with the food, but I will go here on a regular basis just for the ambiance and hopefully I will enjoy the food as much. Love the horse and rider jumping over the stone wall in the front. I would of said cowboy, but this is redskin country so I will try to be politically correct. ha ha ha ha :)

Having never been to Clydes, how "family friendly" is it? Is it a place one can take small children, or is it closer to what 321 Ashland was, where you would go with adults only?

Its not real high end. More like a chain resturant like Sweetwater, Ruby's etc but a little nicer.

Never been to Sweetwater either. Been to Rubys (yuck) and that is a place I have no problem taking my kids. Assuming of course I'd want to eat there. Which I don't.

I wouldn't put Rubys in the same class as Clyde's. I think it would compare to any of the restaurants in the "Great American Restaurants Group"; Sweetwater, Coastal Flats, Arties, etc. I personally can't wait until it opens. Clyde's should be an excellent addition to our community.

It's really family friendly. We take our 5-year-old there often. The service is usually good and, for the most part, the food is good. I really like their chili.

Spoke to some Clyde's folks yesterday and they said opening will probably be mid-December.

Stopped by Clyde's yesterday and met the new General Manager and toured the facility. They plan to open December 1. Folks, this place is amazing! It is unlike anything I've seen in Northern Virginia. Ex-New Englanders or anyone that likes New England will feel right at home here.
They are hiring and need a staff of 300, so if you know anyone looking for a job, they're interviewing on site.

I was blown away by the place when I toured it a few weeks ago.

Its beautiful, fits or blends in and it will be an instant hit. Now if they could put up volleyball courts I would live there ha ha ha

Never much was wowed by the Clyde's food choices except for their awesome chili. BUT, they do have beautiful restaurants.... Check out the Tower Oaks Lodge in Rockville, that one is awesome.

I agree, Clydes serves ho hum food. But - I'm sure it'll be packed from the minute it opens!

We have eaten at the Clydes restaurants numerous times and have yet to have a bad meal. I would certainly not qualify their food as ho-hum.

In addition, the service is ALWAYS excellent and the prices are not too bad considering the amount of food you get.

    T8erman,

That's what I've been thinking. I've had the same good experiences.

I should clarify - I love to cook, rarely eat out - therefore - when we go out to eat - I expect at least as good, if not better than what I get at home. That's just me! To each his own!!!

Clyde's is a theme or destination type of restaurant. Kind of like (but a few steps above) Hard Rock, Planet Hollywood, etc. It's not so much the food that draws in the guests, it's the theme, ambiance and atmosphere. Yes, the food is good but in my opinion no better than many other less expensive restaurants. The reason they are a bit pricier is simply the fact that their restaurants are unique and cost a small fortune to build. Therefore you are not only buying a meal you are buying a "dining experience" as they say in the business.
I've been to the Tower Oaks lodge and it's pretty cool. I am looking forward to this one as well
