I don't know if I really believe this. Somehow it doesn't feel this fast:

    Last Result:
Download Speed: 19427 kbps (2428.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1727 kbps (215.9 KB/sec transfer rate)

You need to tell us how/what you're using to test so we can compare/explain, etc

I used Speedtest from Speakeasy.net, and I have just regular Comcast service.

I'd be skeptical on the upload speed. When uploading a file I find Comcast allows a sustained burst of several seconds which then dies down to about 1/2 the burst bandwidth for the remainder or the upload. In any case it's still worlds better than services were 5+ years ago.

Just ran the test from the Washington DC speakeasy test node at 8:20pm:

Download Speed: 11912 kbps (1489 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 713 kbps (89.1 KB/sec transfer rate)

This is using my MacBook Pro on a wireless 802.11g connection to my router, connected to my cable modem. This is what I usually see in regards to speeds.

Have you tried running the test 2-3 times to rule out anything weird on your connection? Otherwise, enjoy those speeds...

Yep. I ran the test 3 times from DC and twice from NYC. Speeds were consistent.

I ran it on my brand new iMac connected via Ethernet cable to my router. I've never seen speeds this high before. I typically see 4000 - 6000 kbps downloads.

I don't know if the new computer could make any difference. It's got more memory (2GB vs. 512mb) and a faster chip (2.0ghz vs. 1.3(?)ghz).

I'm not complaining. I just wonder what speeds I'd get if I had the faster service!

Download Speed: 11140 kbps (1392.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1884 kbps (235.5 KB/sec transfer rate)

This is running on the normal comcast service.

I am curious what speeds Comcast advertises for the service you have and what they charge for it? I don't recall them offering such high speeds when I had the service.

Interesting... I just used http://myspeed.visualware.com/ (local test) and I'm getting 14Mbps down but only 700ish Kbps up on a 8/768 connection. However, tests elsewhere in the country are giving me an expected mid 7Mbps down and 700ish Kbps up.

I wonder if Comcast is doing something because of the local FiOS roll-out in the Brambleton area. ::hmmm::

on speakeasy's speedtest (DC), I just got

From iMac (running just OS X Leopard):
    Last Result:
Download Speed: 18851 kbps (2356.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1692 kbps (211.5 KB/sec transfer rate)

From same iMac (Windows XP running Parallels VM) - less than 5 minutes later
    Last Result:
Download Speed: 12526 kbps (1565.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1427 kbps (178.4 KB/sec transfer rate)

    Operating system seems to matter.

OS does matter and I ran my test from OS X 10.5.0 (Leopard) on a PowerMac G5 (Quad). But the OS will only matter to a point. You're getting great speeds and I suspect you have a different config on your modem than the rest of us. Question is why? If I didn't need to maintain my connection for a few more hours I would try and power-cycling my modem to see if I pickup a new config.
