Now that tax season is over I've cleaned out my old files and I have tons of personal documents to dispose of - too many to run through my personal shredder. I would imagine other residents have the same issue. Has the association ever thought to sponsor a Document Shred Event? I bet we could get local businesses to sponser Shred-It to come for a Saturday. Heck, I'd even pay $10-$20 to dispose of this information properly. If anyone is interested let me know. Thanks!

any idea on whether or not we need to get the HOA board involved? and, how we could get local businesses to sponsor the idea? i was thinking we could have it where the new Harris Teeter is to build awareness for the new shopping center. does anyone know who i could contact from business management?

I think South Riding had a Community Shred recently. You could try contacting their HOA office; they'd probably be able to put you in touch with the person who spearheaded it.

    Folks,

I just spoke with the sheriff's department community events officer. There is indeed a shredding event on May 31st from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm at the Mills Recreation Center. It's paper only but you can leave paper clips and staples attached. One should not show up with a truck load of docs but the officer said that 3-4 boxes is certainly OK.

Ah, to be able to get rid of years of documents!
