Does anyone know who to contact in regards to getting the ball rolling on landscaping a particular common area of the neighborhood?

We have lived on Sweet Bay Terrace (visible from Village) for four years now and the center of our "terrace" hasn't been touched (besides one of the trees being cut down) since we moved in.

Broadlands is so well landscaped and taken care of...it's a shame that trend doesn't make it far off of the main roads.

It continues to confuse me as to why Village Drive and its connecting roads seem to be so forgotten about.

Just look over some of the posts I've made about Village and Fieldthorn and you'll notice it continues all the way down Village. This is especially frustrating considering it is directly across from the HOA itself!

    BTW-
I sent this email to the HOA today concerning some other landscaping questions:

    =========
    Hello Wesley and Maureen-
This is Chris Ciccone, resident of Southern Walk (Sunderleigh Sq.). I've emailed you and other board members before regarding various topics related to the Village Drive area of Broadlands and I wanted to touch base with you on one more item that has come to my attention.

I've noticed that along Village Drive there is an inconsistency to the common area landscaping (and I don't mean one shrub is a different style then another.. hehe). What I mean is that along Village and the side roads there are many junction boxes/power/cable boxes present. The inconsistency stems form the fact that only a handful of them are being 'obscured' by nice landscaping. The rest are totally uncovered and no landscaping around them at all.

Below is a quick list of some of the offending junction boxes and I'd like to know why they aren't covered with landscaping like a few are (just down the street).

A junction box that IS covered: On Village between Windover and Shenley

Junction Boxes that are NOT covered: (but within walking distance and line of site of the one that is)
    - On Village between Halburton and Bayard (spelling may not be correct)
    - Corner of Village and Larchmont
    - Near Village and Hawksbury

Is there a reason why some of these areas aren't lanscaped the same? Is this something that will be done soon?

    ..and I replied...

    Mr. Ciccone,

Both of these question fall under the auspices of the developer, Van Metre. The HOA will maintain landscaping in the common area once the area is turned over to the HOA, however the initial plantings are determined by the developer. I would suggest you contact any of the Van Metre members of the Board of Directors, Pat Leader, Roy Barnett, Denise Harrover or Mark Holliday. Their contact information is on the inside cover of the newsletter and on the website at http://www.broadlandshoa.org/committees/committees.htm#Directors.

Van Metre and Dominion Power have come to an agreement as to the type of meters which are necessary for the lights in Southern Walk and it is my understanding that they are on order. Please contact Mark Holliday - same contact information as above - for additional information.
