So we have some sort of creature in our garage. My husband saw it yesterday and he said it was much bigger than a mouse and had a very small tail. We are thinking it could possibly be a vole. Anyway, we set out snap traps with peanut butter but the little guy has outsmarted the traps. I have no set out a paper towel surrounded by glue traps (I know its cruel but I want him gone!!) in hopes he'll get stuck next time he goes for a snack. Does anyone have any other advice or know what this creature might be?

    Sticky traps!! Kill them!

If it is a mouse, mice follow along walls and structures as they can't see. So, if you don't catch something foraging, then make sure they are against a wall or structure.

Why don't you just keep your garage open a small crack and he'll hopfully leave. If not, is he really bothering you that much? Voles are kind of cute and I don't think they do any damage. Sticky traps are very inhumane! A slow way to die.

Great idea! Why don't I crack the garage door so that all of his friends can come in and join him? Of course he is bothering me! He is a rodent pooping all over my garage. I realize that glue traps are inhumane but they are very effective. I just caught the little bugger about half an hour ago. I am not so sure it is a vole though.. it might be a really chunky mouse.

It could be a chipmunk. We had some living under our porch at on time. They also would come in the garage and scare me. I understand how Donald Duck feels about Chip and Dale.

Wow, harsh! Sorry if I offended you. I just feel all living things deserve a chance to live. I've often cracked my garage when there was something in it and they've left. Whether it be a mouse, vole, or chipmunk.

Voles are destructive. They can tear your lawn up. Please don't let it out of your garage and allow it to wonder into my yard. Glad the sticky trap worked.

Now if it was a cute chipmunk, I'd let him scoot out. I've not seen any damage from chipmunk.

If it was a mouse, you may have more than just the one. You may want to leave the traps for awhile and see what you get. When we moved in we had a couple of them living in the garage under the stairs, ended up getting them with poison pellets and a "regular" trap. You may also want to look and see if you can find the nest as their may be babies there as well. Happy Hunting!

I wouldn't use poison pellets if you have cats in the house though...

Or dogs, for that matter. I was at the Vets last week and sat next to a man whose dog ingested rat poison.
