Did anyone else read in the Independent's crime report about the guy who exposed himself to kids? It was on the 20,000 block of Claiborne. I don't know where that is. They didn't catch him and the description was too generic. Anyway, it creeped me out.

Also on Claiborne, some punks got out of their car at an intersection (I think in the Belmont CC area), surrounded some lady's car (I think demanding money or that she roll down her window). Whatever. She kept her windows rolled up and they slashed her tires.

Anyway, I find these types of crimes disturbing since they were so close to home.

I was talking to a Loudoun Sheriff I know and they were saying they are shocked by the amount of crime in our area especially serious crime murders domestic violence possible suicide attempts. etc. The sterling division thinks they have the bad guys but around here there seems we have the more serious crimes. Ashburn and the surrounding area so it seems is ground zero. I was really suprised especially about domestic violence and suicide attempts and missing children and of course the big ones as the marshall that killed his wife and lived with her dead body for several days. Of course the guy that hacked up his wife and left it in the dumpster.

Jeez don't we all feel so safe especially with the teens roaming at the night checking out little old ladies so they don't harm us. Wonder if kids got the idea from our airport security. Got to love the teens roaming the streets late at night for our protection from our bad neighbors. :D

Are you making fun of teens terrorizing and slashing an elderly woman's tires?

Guess it is ok as long as she is not a soldier! ;)

on a positive note we were out of town early last week and UPS delivered a very large dell box in addition to 4 smaller boxes to us while we were gone. it sat on our front stoop (uncovered in the rain nonetheless!!! but that's another story...) for *over* 36 hours. i was floored that no one tried to take it or do anything with it.

Thank god for their quick thinking and stopping a potential senior citizen from possibly using her car as a potential weapon or even a car bomb. :D
I feel so much safer these teens are protecting us all hours of the night, soon this on the job training will make them ready for Iraq. ;-)

    It is scary...

Sometime back I subscribed to the following alerts related to Loudoun:

    https://alert.loudoun.gov/index.php?CCheck=1

There is one alert releated to crime.

Some of the crime alerts are so disturbing.
So many incidents in and around Ashburn/Sterling are happening daily.

First, the 20,000 block of Claiborne Parkway is north of the stop sign at Gloucester Parkway near Belmont Country Club.

Secondly, I take crime very seriously, but believe all is not that bad. I wish there were no incidents at all, but I do not feel what we do hear about is particularly alarming. I certainly would not be stunned if a "Dell" box lasted 36 hours at someone's front door. Not to say there is not a risk of theft in such a situation, but i would bet the chances would be under 10%.

Crime rates nationally are down 20% in the last 20 years. Lets keep on top of miscreants to a degree, but let's not live in fear and make things seem worse than they really are.
