I'm sorry I don't think I can help out. But I am wondering what sorts of things are in the eggs? All candy, or toys too? We have some food allergies, and I want to know what to expect.

Some candy, some toys. I have a daughter with nut allergies, so I was thinking I would do ALL toys...but I decided to get some candy. How old is your child? Honestly, the 8 & up prize is a small chocolate bunny. I am putting out lots of chalk and some yard games for the kids to play once they are done with their hunts. Hopefully people will bring a picnic and stay a little while!
It will be tons of fun!!!!

Great! Thanks for doing this. Looks like it will be a beautiful day. The picnic idea is a good one.

My daughter is 3, and has a minor corn allergy that rules out candy with corn syrup. (and an egg allergy, but not so much a problem--assuming all the eggs will be plastic!) I think we will be all good; she might not even notice if I take out the unsafe candy and replace some of it with "safe" stuff.

Is the egg hunt just for Broadlands residents, or can your neighbors in Ashburn Village come too? :)

Hey poptart! Although this event is for our community only, I would like to invite you to bring your kids so you can see how we do it. It should be a beautiful day!

Here is info for your events committee:

    Hi,
To all who planned and volunteered for the egg hunt - thanks! However, our family was dissapointed when we arrived at the community center at 12:20pm on Saturday and were told by a volunteer that everything was over. The HOA web site advertised the event from 11-1pm. Maybe it was a misprint?

The egg hunt started at the community center at 11, where everyone followed the bunny under the tunnel to hillside park. Everyone gathered around the roped off area and we waited for everyone to file over and then the race was on.

I was at the park unitl 1:45pm- later than the projected end time-, and gave prizes to anyone who missed the hunt. There was a scavenger hunt that lasted the entire time and beyond.
Did you come to Hillside Park?

I am sorry you were disappointed, that really upsets me. If you saw volunteers by the community center, you saw the bunny taking a break or getting ready to go. He and his helper were the only volunteers over there at that time.

Here is what was on the website...
Annual Egg Hunt, Saturday April 3rd
A hunt for families of all beliefs, led by Peter Cottontail, will begin at 11:00a.m. by the Community Center parking lot. Follow Peter Cottontail under the tunnel to Hillside Park where there will be lots of eggs for boys and girls. There will be an age 3 and under section, an age 4-7 section, and a special scavenger hunt for the rest of 'em!! The age 8 and ups will be divided into teams to hunt for a list of items at Hillside Park- teens are welcome and encouraged to come! The 8 and ups must be present at 11am for sign-up, and every team that completes their mission will win a prize. After the hunt we will play croquet, do The Bunny Hop, and picnic on the Hill. Be sure to bring a blanket and/or chairs to enjoy an afternoon of neighborhood socializing at Hillside Park ! Domino’s will be onsite with pizza for sale, and handmade Orangina refreshments will be created for us by Joe Knows Real Estate.

The Bunny will be available for your own spontaneous action photos after all of the eggs have been collected. So don’t forget to bring your camera!

I just want to say "thank you" to all of the volunteers who put on the egg hunt today. The event was a lot of fun, and the kids all seemed to be very happy. I loved the way you separated the groups by age. I think that it made things much more fair than grouping everybody together. My older kids had a blast doing the scavenger hunt as well. Unlike most egg hunts, this one seemed to last longer than the first 5 minutes, so it was especially nice.

Thank you for being so faithful in organizing these wonderful events for the community. It gives our children wonderful memories. I look forward to next year as well.

Thanks! The volunteers for this event were AWESOME!! A few wonderful residents pitched in with the set up when they came a little early with their kids- THAT IS WHAT I LIKE TO SEE!!!! One thing I loved about this event was the 2 teens that stepped up and volunteered!! We had 2 very responsible, kind young men working on this event...one of them in a very hot suit:) I hope they come back to volunteer for things again and again! They made the event SOOO super special and I thank them very much from the bottom of my heart!!
You know who else made the event super special? Joe Knows Real Estate had these crazy color changing cups that they filled with some delicious cold orange drink and gave to everyone. That was so nice and thoughtful on such a warm day!! http://www.joeknowsva.com/
While I'm giving shout outs, I have to say that Mike at Domino's www.dominos.com is always so awesome and volunteered to feed our volunteers and their families with 10 FREE pizzas. Pretty cool!!! Thanks Mike!!
The UPS Store in the Broadlands Marketplace http://www.theupsstorelocal.com/5742/ gave us self-inking stamps for the scavenger hunt...b/c I forgot about stamps and called them at 10:30am and asked them! (They are ALWAYS so willing to help with everything I need!! I rely heavily on Ron!!)
Carissa Barry at Van Metre http://www.vanmetrehomes.com/pages/home.asp helped us out with our budget which was so nice! We were able to buy everything we needed to make the event fun for everyone!
Thanks everyone for a great day!
