Need Advice Experience w/Solar Panel Lights?

    I'm interested in installing (with permission, of course) a motion-activated, solar powered outside light. I want to illuminate a small space (about 10 ft. x 15 ft.) directly behind my 1st floor back exit. Right now, the target area is a rather hazardous and poorly lit walking area for someone with balance and sight issues. Does anyone have any knowledge about these lights--how long do they last? problems? What about good brands?

    I've used one before. They work well, but the solar panel needs direct sunlight several hours a day to charge the batteries.
