Can anyone recommend someone to reseal the exterior windows, garage opening, front door, top of house, etc?

We live in a townhouse and all the caulking is finally starting to separate from the brick in the front of our place. Would do it myself but I would need a really tall ladder to get to the very top windows and attic section where the front of the house meets the roof.

However, I'm not sure if this is a good time or not due to the cold weather...

    Thanks

I am going to hijack the thread for a second, but this is related.

For the past couple years I've been using a product from DAP called Peel 'n Seal. It is a clear chaulk that you apply indoors along the gaps in your windows. It's a fantastic product. It goes on easy, and then in the spring you just pull it off the windows. No damage to the windows, paint or wall coverings.

I've only found it on the internet and have bought it there. I have not seen it in local stores.

It is very effective at plugging up air gaps in windows and doors that you don't plan to open until things warm up.

Skimout, good luck finding someone for your need.

    skimout and others--

Check out my thread under "Homeowners Corner..." and my post called "Tom Hoover..." for a great contractor with our recommendations.

Contact info is listed and he and his company crew is fair and clean.

Wow first time I ever heard anybody caulking their windows and doors this way. afgm it might be time for window replacement. I don't know why people when they buy an home don't upgrade to a better window and door. Both Pella and anderson make a line of widows that are called a builder line but they are far superior then most windows builders put in. I Put in Pella windows throughout and bought them thru Home Depot when Home depot sold them now they just sell anderson and Lowes sells pella. But with the sale price coupled with coupons that anyone could get :) they were cheaper then the junk barber and ross sold even with the so called builders discount, which many builders use barber and ross windows including some high end builders.

Well that is interesting afgm that they make an caulk like that.

    thanks for the good info...

i'm assuming that stuff beats the stuff we used to use in college (spray on foam that would harden like and rock and turn yellow, which would then cause all the windows to be jammed shut all year long...unless of course you broke them in order to open them up).

Probably because 95% of the homes around here are built by the production builders and I've never seen one offer a window "upgrade."

I've had two very good experiences using Mr. Handyman. Excellent customer service and work. I don't know how competitive their prices are but what we paid each time seemed generally reasonable.

Our house wasn't new when we bought it but it probably needs new windows. The windows are double paned and have some fog inside. It's on our "to do" list...

Lee, at this point, I am looking at the least 10K in windows. Therefore a couple tubes of $3.00 caulk seems like a great deal. :)

The the way, you nailed it, existing windows are Barber and Toss. Chip Cross put them in.
