I would like to use the young folks listed in the newsletter for babysitting eventually once my child is a little older, but for right now am looking for someone older, a mom with grown kids or a college student capable of taking care of an infant. Are there any resources to find something like that, or does anyone have a reference for me?

Also, question on payment, if I were to use a babysitter/mother's helper from the newsletter for the days I work at home... what is a good per hour rate to offer for something like that?

    thanks for the info/suggestions.

There is a website, sittercity.com, that lists local babysitters. Many are college students with infant care experience. You have to join but the fee is minimal. We found two excellent sitters through this site.

    Hi smheese,

I am a college student with 8 years of babysitting experience and would love to help you out. I attend college in southern Virginia but I am in Ashburn for my winter break. I realize you probably need someone who is in this area year round, but if you need any help this season or during the summer, feel free to contact me at japroffi@longwood.edu

    Thanks :)

    smheese,

Did you find any reliable babysitters for your infant? If so, did you get them from the HOA newsletter or anywhere else? I'm in the process of looking for one as well, so I thought I'd see how your search went. This will be the first time I've left my 1 yr-old with a babysitter, so I'm a tad nervous.

    Thanks,

    Lisa
