Looking for ideas for first birthday party. Will have several adults and about 6-8 kids between 2-8.

Just have a get together for the adults, let the kids play on their own (playroom? craft table? something like that). Have cake and sing to the baby and then everyone leaves after cake. Don't even try to have your baby open presents. They'll be cranky with everyone there and it just prolongs the party into an awkward "ooo-ing" and "aahh-ing" over baby presents (kinda like being stuck at a baby shower). Open the presents after everyone leaves when your 1 year will be a little more comfortable.

Remember - you are the one looking for the memories. Your baby isn't going to remember a thing so don't spend a lot of time or money on it. Relax and just enjoy the day your baby begins their toddlerhood.

    Excellent advice!

    No scary clowns
No "forcing" the baby to do stuff
    Limiting sensory overload
No "awkward" moments for the adults

First Birthday party ideas? Adults sitting around drinking coffee, watching the babies play, while the adults ***** about raising kids! Quality time!!

i let my in laws run with The Boy's frst b-day party and they went all out with a magician, catering, a fancy cake and 100 guests. The Boy napped through most of it, did the tradtional hand in cake, cake on face thing, aaand back to sleep he went!

BUT- all of the adults and older cousins had a ball. So- I'd say plan the party around the interests/ages of the people you intend to invite!
