Okay, "y'all", here is the lowdown on the berries from our farm.

Maureen and I worked a deal where on Monday, 06/16/08 I will drop off FREE strawberries from our farm since we have alot of extras. The berries will be available by 11 am. I have a business appointment before 9 am.

There will be about 3 flats (24 quarts) available. However, 20 quarts are SPOKEN FOR with people who I already promised them to. They are RESERVED for people that PM'd me already.

You will need to wash, clean, and remove stems since I will not have time. You can check with Maureen and see if she has any leftovers.

The people who I already PM'd will have their Forum User Name on the 1 quart bags RESERVED and HELD at the Broadlands Nature Center. The berries will be in the fridge at the Nature Center. Check with Maureen.

The berries will need to be picked up by 5 pm 06/16/08. Since Maureen and her staff were so gracious to let me drop the berries off, please do not disrupt her office.:)

I have to pickup up my husband at Dulles Airport by 2 pm so I cannot stay late. Hope you enjoy the berries and have a good weekend--

    Blessings--

    Foodie:)

The people who who are on the RESERVE LIST for the 1 quart strawberries I have PM'd and can pickup their berries at the Broadlands Nature Center by 5 pm on 06/16/08, Monday. Check with Maureen. The Nature Center will have the RESERVE LIST.

There 10 quarts of EXTRA strawberries that are UNCLAIMED. The bags will be marked EXTRA. Just check with the Broadlands Nature Center to see if they are still available.

There is a Strawberry/Walnut Bread recipe on the thread "Area Restaurants..." and the post is called "Recipe Roundup..." dated 08/22/07. If you have a nut allergy--delete the walnuts. Great fruit bread and you can use any berries.

Thanks again and have a good week. Hope you enjoy. Thanks again Maureen to you and your staff for your kindness.

Thanks Maureen and your staff for allowing me to drop off the 30 quarts of strawberries from our farm today. It was a nice to see and visit with you at the Nature Center in Broadlands. You Broadlanders have quite a beautiful community and Nature Center.

Well, I am still sitting here at the Dulles Airport waiting for my husband's flight from England. Good thing I brought my laptop and plenty to read. His flight is delayed for an hour. He called me and told me to go home; but I told him I was already waiting. Oh well--I have plenty to work on for my web site and to read.

For those of you who would like to sample the Strawberry Bread and Strawberry/Rhubarb Jam that I brought, just check with Maureen and her staff. There is plenty to try. Also, the 10 extra quarts of berries are in the Nature Center's fridge. Please post here or PM me and tell me your opinions (if you wish) about the bread and jam. Good or bad--:)

Sorry I could not meet any of you--maybe next time. I talked to Maureen about the possibility of have a discussion and/or lecture at some future date regarding Nutrition, Sustainable and Organic Living, and an introduction to my Mennonite business with free food samples. It would be at your Community Center and I could rent your space. I can provide speakers, etc. if you are interested. Just PM and I can get the ball rolling.

Have a good week--I guess our family's belated Father's Day events will be delayed a few more hours. Oh well--:(

    Brassy and others--

Well, we finally made it home. :screwy::eww: My husband's flight came in after 6 pm because of the bad weather. So we had dinner out. Thanks goodness my sister, brother-in-law, and their kids are visiting. They took care of our kids.

Brassy--You are welcome for the berries. Try the bread and jam.

I forgot to mention that when I dropped off the food today that I left a June issue of the United Natural Foods catalog with Maureen at the Nature Center. That way if you wish to flip through to see what you can order and the products and/or prices--you can do so at your leisure. On a sidenote, 06/17/08, Tuesday, the UNFI Buying Club has our scheduled delivery at Bruin Park in Herndon from 9 am to 11 am. So if you want to check us out and see how it works, just come by. Also, check for details on the post "United Natural Foods..." thread for further details. We have several families from Broadlands using the Buying Club and tells me they love it!:)

    Blessings--

There are still quite a few bags of reserved berries at the Nature Center...all the extras are gone...they won't be fresh for long and I can't bear the thought of them spoiling, so please plan to pick them up today by 5 or they will become "fair game" for anyone looking to take them home.

Yes, please pick up the Reserved berries and help Maureen out. We may have more produce later in the season to give away. I will let you know.

On a sidenote, Lee, please empty your messages. I need to send you some info on berries.

Foodie, THANK YOU! Your strawberries rock. We are eating some right now. Yum. Thanks for being so thoughtful and for sharing.

Since you won't take anything for these, we are going to make a donation to Feed the Children to provide food for the hungry in your name. Thanks again!

    Kaosdad--

We are glad you enjoyed the berries from our farm. It is hard to find fresh and local berries now. If there are any left at the Nature Center--make some strawberry ice cream!;)

    Silence Dogood99--

Thanks again. Hey if you think our berries are good--you should try the produce from Tuscarora Cooperative.;) Speaking of Tuscarora, Jeff just emailed me that with the full swing of Summer almost officially here, TOG will have Saturday deliveries starting 06/28/08 for customers and members.:)

Even though our strawberries are almost done for the season, Jeff told me that TOG has strawberries (12 pints) for $38.00 a case. Just thought you would like to know!

I made your spinach kiwi strawberry salad for everyone tonight- it was a big hit- my mom bro sis-in-law all loved it- actually i had all the cousins gather round in the kitchen and they made it- they loved grabbing clumpfuls of baby spinach and adding to the dressing they had just whipped up- then they stirred it until the leaves shined with dressing! (ages 2-6). thanks again foodie- awesome berries!!
