I wanted to let everyone know about a cheap fix I made on our townhouse original York Diamond 80 HVAC system. Maybe someone around here with an original unit might have the same problem in the future.

I came home to a warm house the other day, needless to day the A/C wasn't working. First thought was the thermostat, nope it works. Next I checked the A/C unit, working. Next, I wanted to see if the furnace would fire up, and it did. I narrowed it down to the blower motor mounted at the bottom of the furnace unit. The blower would blow very slowly for about 20 seconds, then it would shut off. And their was a slight burning smell. After the motor cooled down it would do this again.

So, after reading through the owners manual to no avail I did some exhaustive Googleing. I found some people with the same symptoms as mine and they were able to fix it by simply replacing the blower motor capacitor. I figured what the heck, I'll give that a try before calling in the pros. I was lucky enough to find one locally in Dulles at the Grainger. And it was only $7. My wife and I did a little happy :boogie:.

Btw, I don't have any great electrical background, especially in HVAC. Anyone could do this.
