Just a heads-up to anyone who gets their HDTV signals over-the-air via an antenna. As you might have noticed, it looks like channels 7 (WJLA-DT) and 9 (WUSA-DT) have gone off the air. This is just temporary and is NOT an issue on your end. Here is a summary of what's going on:

"WJLA-DT and WUSA-DT will be off the air starting Apr 16 for about 7 - 12 days. This is due to the work of installing a new combiner which will allow WETA-DT and WHUT-DT to be broadcast from the same tower. The signals will have to be down during the entire time. WETA-DT is currently broadcast at lowish power from a tower in Arlington, while WHUT-DT is not currently on the air."

So, don't bother spending 30 minutes fiddling with your antenna like I did [:p]

This ONLY affects HDTV over-the-air signals, not the regular analog signals...

I'll post an update here as I get new info...

What's really interesting, is that Adelphia called everyone in the area who is an HD subscriber, and told us the same thing on Friday.

It was great way to head off alot of phone calls.

Does that mean they'll bump up the power of WETA? I haven't been able to receive that channel since I got my HD card...

Ultimately, that is the plan. I have no idea of the timeline however. Note that WETA-DT orginates from a slightly different compass heading than the other major DC broadcasters, or for that matter, analog WETA 26. I can pick the digital signal up with a slight rotor change from my Cascades home, albiet with occasional drop outs.

In case someone isn't checking, the digital channels 7 & 9 are back.
