First Lego league is a robotics design competition which is held each fall which fosters the development of problem solving skills. The event lasts for approximately 6-8 weeks culminating in a regional tournament. ( Some teams will be selected to go down to VA Tech for the state tournament) Team size is limited to between 6-8 kids. The team we are forming in the Broadlands will be composed of girls between 10-12 years. The team will initially meet once a week in the evenings. Some parent participation will be required as there are many jobs which will require guidance and support to form a successful team effort. If you are interested in joining this team or would like more information please contact ASAP. The event will begin on 9/15 and I would like to hit the ground running. I currently own two Lego Mindstorm kits so the only cost will be for the tournament registration / challenge kit and any misc. costs like team tee shirts and food. I would guess about $90/family. Mark, if there's anything the Broadlands Technology Committee can do to help you all out, please let us know. This is the kind of thing us 'geeks' love to be involved with :) You can send me a message by clicking on my name in these forums.

Too bad my daughter is still too young, I would have signed her up in a heartbeat!
