all of a suden when I lock the Van , it stopped to beep.It changed to lights from beep. I don't know what I did ( may be my daughter played with the rmeote for a min or two on that day) . I cannot change it thru the big console menu because it was changed from remote. Anyone can help me with that. I hate to call dealer or Nissan for that.

    Thanks

there is usually a sequence you do with the remote control to toggle the alarm modes. My best suggestion would be look in your owners manual or to google for your car and remote alarm or something.

My Nissan does similar, but its in manual on how to toggle it. I don't recall off the top of my head.

I read the manual. It says if the change is done using remote it has to be un-done only thru remote. and there is no explanation as to how to change with remote. I will search again.

What they charge for cars these days I would not think twice about calling. As a matter of fact I would actually go to the dealership for help and certainly would not let them charge me a penny.

I remmember one time they were being jerks about some warrenty work and I let my kids run around in the show room they couldn't get get the work done fast enough. [}:)] Using your kids works in custom lines at airports sometimes, several times we jumped to the head of the line. this is with hundreds of people in line after several 747's landed about the same time :D

for quests in 2004.. (taking a guess).. its done via the dashboard 'computer'. There is a personalized settings menu (sect 4.6 of the 2004 owners manual)

mine is 2004 quest. that works only if the setting is not done by remote..per the manual. I still tried that setting and no use.will read manual again in the evening.

THat new of a car, just call the service center at your dealer, they will probably know the keycombo by heart, or will be able to look it up for you. I wouldn't goto the dealer, just see if they'll help you on the phone.

Did you actually look? I scanned the manual twice and couldn't find it either. So I wouldn't call out 'rtfm' unless you can point out the answer.

Yeah, it is in the manual. It's in the section that details "don't let your children play with the car key remote."

Okay....try this (off the forum I mentioned above):

FYI -- in case anyone doesn't know, you can deactivate the horn beep when the doors are locked with the key fob. Just hold down the open and close buttons simultaneously for a couple of seconds, and the lights will flash a couple of times to show it's been deactivated. Now, the horn won't sound when the vehicle is locked.

To re-activate the horn feature, just repeat the process.

Thank you so much . I tried it last night and it worked .

and no parents on purpose let their children play with car remote and things like that. I am not even sure if I gave it to my hcild on that day .My child ususally asks for it when I am carrying her from garage into home . There are always few mins in life when parents give in to toddlers ..that doesn't mean "we let our kids play with car key remote"
