:censored: Beware....if you have Hershey's gift certificates, they will no longer accept them

They changed owners and the new ones say they won't accept them since they were used w/the old owners. We walked out cause we weren't going to pay AGAIN when we had already bought the certificates. There is no expiration on them & it's not my problem that the owners changed is it?

Oh well, won't go back there.

Pretty sure there is some legal avenue you could take - I would do it just in spite if they aren't going to offer gift certificates.

last we went there, the place seemed cold and un-family friendly, they didn't even have high chairs like maggie moos does, and there was some unfriendly guy behind the counter listening to a loud spanish music station. that is just not right in suburban broadlands. you have to appeal to your customer. i for one am offended when i go into a store in a neighborhood like this and hear nothing but spanish.

Hmm, maybe you should take the time to learn Spanish, as it's one of the fast growing segments of our community.

"Offended" "store" "Neighborhood like this" ?? Exactly what is your definition of a neighborhood like this? Ironically, I keep a copy of the Constitution on the corner of my desk, it's a pretty good read, try it some day. It is the complete operating manual for a country of over 250 million people, and except for the native americans, we all came from somewhere else and all spoke a different language. Still, I guess I wont look for you in my favorite Thai, Chinese, Italian, Greek or Jewish deli!!

And let us remember one of the funniest lines from the movie Caddyshack, but be cautious of those who might take it to heart

"I Christen thee the flying WASP." Mrs. Schmails from Caddyshack

the only part i agree with is an unfriendly service person cannot succeed around here. i think it's unprofessional when ANY kind of music is played too loud in a place of business- but why would music in SPANISH offend you? did you understand some dirty lyrics or something? :)

while i am of the mind that every person who lives in this country should speak english to succeed- i think everyone who speaks english PRIMARILY should speak a second language to EXCEL.

but back to Hershey- they will go out of biz all on their own if they won't honor gift certs from the old owner and continue to give lousy unwelcoming service- it's ridiculous that they would give up future potential biz by refusing to honor a gc!

we have TOO many choices folks- Milwaukee Custard, Rita's Cold Stone Creamery, Dairy Queen, Hawaiian Scoop- to have to settle for anything less than friendly service and a welcoming environment. support the businesses that WORK HARD for our business, not those who simply expect it!!!

I believe that Hershey's Ice Cream is considered a 'franchise', and as such, I think it would be a good idea to let the 'corporate' offices know what you think of the local store and their actions. After all, it's THEIR name on the front of the store, not the owner's...

I think that this would be a great article for any of the local papers - the loudoun, the easterner etc. if we can get the word to the masses, the new owners will either adjust their standards, or corporate will be very unhappy.

I wonder if you can return the gift cards to corporate Hershey for a refund, based on what transpired here...

I totally agree with that statement! This is a diverse area with a worker shortage, so while the GC issue would totally bother me, the Spanish language is to be expected.

Last ever trip to Hershey ice cream last night: was overcharged for a poorly crafted sundae by someone who didn't speak english well and couldn't understand why I was overcharged. did not care for loud spanish music either.

In Spanish or English - matters not to me - they missed an opportunity to do something that indicated that they wanted your business by honoring the certificates.
