Home Invasion in Broadlands

Home Invasion occurred last night. Sounds suspicious that they were apprehended so quickly. Not to take anything away from our Sheriffs Department

- Robbery/Home Invasion: A female suspect was allegedly used as a ruse to distract a victim on the 21380 block of Shady Wood Terrace in Ashburn at 5:06 p.m. Monday. The female knocked on the door of a residence and several males then made entry, one brandishing a BB gun. The suspects restrained the victim and proceeded to take jewelry, cash, a cell phone and a laptop computer from the residence. Three suspects and the suspect vehicle were located. Arrested was Jonathan Duchatellier, 18, Jason Charles Chambers, 20, Francis Kingsley Coffie, III. They were charged with robbery and kidnapping and are being held without bond. whats suspicious about a quick apprehension, just out of curiosity? maybe a concerned neighbor saw or heard something suspicious- Blands has NO shortage of ppl who arent' afraid to stick their nose in your biz- THANKFULLY. (and I honestly mean that in the nicest way- ppl NEED to check in on their neighbors like the old days!)

 

Was this the 5 police cars in the townhouse neighborhood off of Claiborne (south of the Safeway shopping center) around 6-7pm last night? My kids were awestruck to see someone in handcuffs.

 

yes, this was in the townhouse area at the corner of Broadlands Blvd and Claiborne.
yes, these idiots are also a product of our community.

 

The kids are lucky the home owner does not have a gun for self protection. Pick the wrong house and the results could have ended up with injuries or death.

Only if the person has the habit of always answering their door with a gun in their hand.

Home invasion criminals are rarely polite enough to allow the victim to go get their gun.

True, but if you are a robber, it is something that should cross your mind. You don't know where people keep shotguns, pistols etc. There are older threads that speak to the number of people that conceal carry in this area. It could have been a lot worse.

Someone else mentioned maybe they knew the person - which is highly possible. I remember the cops flying by me on my way home which i found strange. At least this time noone was hurt.

 

I remember reading (but can't find the citation darn it!) a news article about a band of home intruders operating in MD a few years back. When they were caught, they were asked why they only hit homes in MD.

Their reply was that in Virginia, homeowners have guns and CCW permits.

So, at least in this one instance, Virginia gun laws did act as a deterrent to a specific type of crime.

 

... if they went to Stonebridge or Briar Woods they could still be from other parts of Ashburn or Brambleton...Neither of those schools service just Broadlands...I'm not saying they went to either of those schools because I didn't search for them but that is not proof they are from this community
