My family and I went to try a new restaurant at the Reston Town Center today. It opened Monday 8/27/07 only. It offers upscale Italian entrees and is top notch decorated inside. They have lunches and dinners. The bathroom is even beautiful! Large inside, tile floor is gorgeous! Everything is gorgeous! I took notes on decorating. Inside is BIG! Since it was such a nice day, we sat on the patio, which is set up very nicely. Wonderful smelling trailing flowers will travel up the outsides as well as an outside pergola type of contemporary wire design. Outside lighting too. Lovely atmosphere. Absolutely delicious and fresh food. Wonderful service worthy of 20%. Water filled every 10 minutes I thought.

My children chose pasta with cheese sauce (fancy macaroni and cheese) and spaghetti. Pasta was fresh made in house, rare in this area of Virginia it seems. My three year old said it was the best ever! We ordered a side of berries for the girls and the server split the one very big bowl for the girls at the table. Great service! There also is a side of melon available.

The restaurant also worked extremely well with substitutions in the case of food allergies, which we have.

The server mentioned the wine selections are made for the restaurant straight from Italy, they have a partnership through the chef.

All the food is homemade, desserts, bread and dressings made at the restaurant. You can order loaves of bread to take home. The olive bread served at the table was divine. We had a roasted chicken dish, which was so homemade tasting and had fabulous flavor and lobster ravioli. Again with the pasta homemade there it was so great. Evident they know italian. Pasta cooked perfect, fresh, etc. We had tirimisu which was tasty too.

This rates as one of our #1 FAVORITES in the area and we will definitely be back. I would not say it is in the cheaper levels, I would say it is moderately expensive. Other favorites: Nagoya Steak and Seafood, Rio Grande, Callaloo Cuisine.

    ENJOY!!!

It has a rounded black exterior and you can't miss it if you are in the area near the fancy new condo entrances, The Savoy Condos and The Midtown Condos.

The restaurant is close to Reston Pkwy, but I don't know the cross street.

They do operate other restaurants in CA, CO, WA, NV: see website http://www.ilfornaio.com/

Also they can add you to their mailing list, as they are getting ready to start Festa Regionale 2007, where they feature different menu items and wines from that particular region. Better than having to travel all the way to ITALY.

    Here is the address
    I Midtown at Reston Center
    11990 Market Street, Suite 106
    Reston, VA 20190

Same here, we used to live in Las Vegas and this was one one of our favorites places to go - right at the NY NY Hotel. Glad to know we have one so close to us again!

We would occasionally go to the one in Santa Monica which was not far from were we lived.

Don't remember it much as there was many many good restaurants all over the place out there.

Have to give this one a try and see if my memory comes back :)

    We Love Disney,
You mentioned that Il Fornaio were accommodating of food allergies and that a member of your family has them. May I ask which food allergies you're dealing with? My daughter has food allergies and finding restaurants that can handle dealing with them is sometimes difficult. Thanks.
