Illegal water use?

Read this in the Post over the weekend:

I certainly hope the water trucks I see filling up daily (sometimes more than once) at the intersection of Vestals Gap & Claiborne aren't doing so illegally. Are these water trucks part of the HLS landscaping that is contracted through the HOA?

 

The trucks that are watering the common areas along the streets are contracted by HLS for the landscaping. They do use the proper meters and report their water use. They are clearly marked as 'water' trucks and are white in color.

Well .. today they were using one that's orange !! But it is marked water !!

Two people were arrested and charged with Grand Larceny for taking water from the town of Leesburg fire hydrants yesterday (value of the water must have been over $200). Just a guess that their arrests were a direct result of the attention that article provided. They work for a landscaping company-I'm sure their boss told them to go fill up the truck and they were just following orders... Held on a $5000 bond, too...
