I really hope that the BOS, if they approve it, wrings the same proffers out of Inova that were offered by HCA for the Broadlands hospital.

 

Me too, or better proffers.

 

We should have HCA as a Broadlands partner/neighbor instead of this healthplex which will most likely be a full-blown hospital by the time it is done expanding.

 

Yep. I hope someone on the BoS points out there wasn't a need and asks the tough question of why did that change. Better yet I hope HCA finds a way to sue them.

Yup, six years later and still no second hospital and still no competition for Inova.

I continue to be amazed at the financial and political power of the non-profit Inova. They are a machine.

 

Well, Inova pumped lots of money to BoS candidates last election. (Gee, what a surprise, I wasn't one of them!). They will get this approved with little fuss and few proffers. Remember, Inova's proffers for their approved hospital on Rte 50 were a fraction of what BRMC offered.

They made lots of arguments about near the Greenway as being a bad place to locate a facility....and then went on a hunting spree to find a location next to the Greenway.

The wanted the county to follow the Healthcare CPAM that promotes co-location and expansion of existing facilities......and now wants to build a free-standing one miles away from their campus.

Or maybe they want to put a facility between two (one existing and one planned) HCA facilities to draw business away from them. That's a marketing plan!

Hospitals' are a political, competitive cut-throat industry.
