I've tried three sushi places in the area (but not this one), and my favorite is Naruto sushi in the newish shopping center by Home Depot. It's a little more pricey than other places, but it would be worth it for a birthday :)

Just my two cents in case you can't get an opinion on that one specifically.

We like Tokyo sushi (in the Ashburn Village Giant shopping center) and Naruto. Naruto is fancier than Tokyo. Masa sushi used to be called Tomoya (or something like that) and was really good- they had $1 sushi night on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Then it was sold. We went one time after the sale, several years ago, and the sushi was room temperature. It kind of creeped us out and we haven't been back. I have no recent experiences there.

While it's not really local, when I want sushi I go to Tachibana in McLean. It is Japanese owned. Many "Japanese" restaurants are Korean or Chinese owned and I find these highly variable but usually only OK at best. The sushi at Tachibana is always very good.

    Best regards,
    Richard

Personally I think Hama in Herndon is just as good if not better and certainly a lot closer. Anyhow with respect to the thread, I didn't even realize Masa Sushi existed. I'll have to try it.

Qzp - I think the cat's out of the bag on where you taking me, dingus!.

My input is...Tachibana which is my ALL time favorite!

Dingus - remember when I lived in Vienna and we use to go there...wait that might have been another b-friend (at the time). At any rate Tachi is my vote for my 6th anniversary of my 29th b-day.

Went to Samurai Sushi again for Valentine's day, place was packed of course and everything was still timely and delicious. They even gave us a free desert (ice cream sundae with tempura banana), yay~
